its time we considered what we fancy doing for 2015 in respect of inter club stuff and anything we are going to put on our selves
-
I think CF needs to have a band and BBQ again. And I wouldn't mind doing a new Breakout site too
-
Breakout yes.....new site? Where you thinking?
Two places...... Birties go to Seven Sisters
And Birties go to KORC
Both at extremes of the country but I would go......(7s is a mother of a haul so 3 day event needed) KORC is 100 miles only.....
-
following with interest on ideas, but in the deep dark kernow distance might have a bigger impact
-
Must be some rocky Offroad Cornish places that we can combine with a loooong weekend???
-
sorry to be boring but i still have bits of the breakout site (I hate age as it messes up your >>>>> memory) can't remember the name
I think j33p are doing the summer Scott William's thing there this year
MORE than happy with 7S and would have to get a passport for Kirton - how bloody far - hopefully Patrol working by then
-
smiths has put a korc event up we could adopt
-
I'd recommend doing 7S with J33P rather than trying to host an event there. Non MOT vehicles are acceptable but get checked, all vehicles get checked actually but non-MOT a bit more. It would be great to have a Birtys group tour the site and help each other with punches, trials, sections etc.
-
:iagree:
-
7s
KORC
Clyro
All get my vote..

Boo hoo.. It's about that for us to come to cheapfest. Kirton is about 80 miles both worth going to
-
I'm with Jez
Kirton KORC
Clyro
7 Sisters
-
J33P will be at 7s 1/2 august this year
-
Kirton or Clyro as a different location for breakout maybe? I'm happy to organise a West Harptree but could make in later in the year maybe??
-
Kirton for Breakout would be good...... If it hasn't been monsoon weather.....tis quite good in semi dry and they've got rocks..... Ooooh yeah :icon_super:
Clyro is great place to be early summer......
-
Well I am determined to get to a event in 2015, Kirton is 140 miles for me which is doable but looks like Clyro is closer to 300 miles which is not, for me
-
Time to bring this topic back to life I think.
I personally need to see some event location change this year. Kirton, Clyro and Seven Sisters are on my List.
Birties of old have a reputation for not traveling to far from home unfortunatly so how about ya'll prove them wrong this year? :greggmo:
-
:imwitstupid: Would be good to get everyone together :icon_super:

Sorry guys, thought I had put this here earlier when Clayt first posted DOH !!
Copied from what I posted in the Mods Donnington thread.
Probably not the right thread for this but here goes what’s been spinning in my head & it’s up for discussion so shoot me down if you like folks. Just chucking it out there
I will get hold of Tony & update the Donnington thing over the next few days all being well.
Events this year, if last year is anything to go by, if it wasn’t for team Donk, West Harptree & Wagtail would hardly have any attendance. Fortunately both pay per truck so club didn’t lose money but likewise didn’t add a fat lot towards the annual £500 PLI or internet fee's kitty.
Was thinking that the atmosphere at CF was great having folks from other clubs, & for something different this year, I'm hoping to talk to Tony Willetts about possibly tagging on to J33 at 7 sisters, a place where we could never hope to book on our own & it won’t be the usual £50 price that we try & keep to for events.
Likewise, there is the fab opportunity to go to Kirton with Mike Smiths charity do at £50 for the weekend, a rate which is cheaper than Kirton members could do it for.
That leaves Cheapfest & the turkey hunt which are provisionally booked at Ribbo. The Turkey hunt just about covers its own costs & if we want a band & BBQ for CF like last year, we can do it but won’t be able to raise as much for charity given that it’s the one earner to pay for all others during the year.
There is a possibility & it’s only a possibility that we may be able to book a midlands based event for the breakout at a venue not used by Birty's before, more details later but i am in the hands of another so will leave it at that for now. Update, we are looking at a one day event at Hawkstone Park, need to check camping & stuff.
Have to be honest that Clyro doesn’t have much there for a lot of people these days & we have only been able to use half the site for a few years, however J33 are going there again this year.
Shout, scream or nod to any & all of the above, just kicking it out there but time is ticking
-
Avon Dassett Quarry near banbury is good for all types of 4x4 and just off the M40
-
Can't help but think sacrilege !! The home of Birtys Cheapfest should not be moved.
-
Good call Rich :icon_winkle:
Be good to go somewhere different wherever we go
CF is provisionally booked for Ribbo H :icon_winkle:
-
It's a good plan, 7 Sisters and Clyro with J33P will be fun. I've never done Kirton so looking forward to that. I had better get busy sorting the garage and Jeep.
-

There is a chance I may be there next month with a couple of local lads, I can see what's its like.
I agree re Cheapfest, we could attempt a decent event like 2014 and it will be epic.
-

I must agree. It is like a pilgrimage to Birmingham every September.
-
How about tagging on this: http://www.activeshows.co.uk/events/muddygoodweekend2015
:
-
Sounds good and close to home for me which makes a change.
It sounds like we will do a few Birty's events and then be a roaming club going elsewhere, I'm looking forward to it :steeringwheel:
-
Did some off-roading there with JeepworldMark Askews lot, was a good site but reading between the lines here it looks like off roading only at Devils Pit.
Hope I'm wrong!
-
following with interest on ideas, but in the deep dark kernow distance might have a bigger impact
A number of options in Kernow....
Bush Farm, just inside Kernow/Cornwall... Quarry area, woods and then another set of woods near by for more awesome fun... last years de cider was held over these two places.
Thunder Park, about an hour into Kernow... Quarry area, Proper stick sections, slopes and trees and boulders...
Both sites fine to camp and have water and toilet, camp fire should be no problem at either... possible hog roast/catering can be sorted.
If you want any more info/help or even some punches set out then I can help... cheers Maf
PS Also some really nice lanes down here... many are tight though... :icon_winkle:
-
:imwitstupid: we should go visit the yokels :icon_super:
-
It's a trek but if we aren't doing Harptree then this would be a good way to meet up with Bryn, Dutch, Dave...
-
Didn't want to go there because after all Birties is a Midlands based club and hence events would be centered around that area.
Although Kernow is a nice part of the world you'd struggle on participants. What goes for us goes for you guys oop Norf I guess.
The locations that have been mentioned so far would mean trailering because 150 Miles (Harptree) is about as much motorway driving as one can do in a CJ.
BD would overheat 30 miles out of Maidstone so he's out :003:
-
:d030: oh yee of little faith :wave-fingersmiely: :hysterical:
-
We not doing Harptree??????
I'm not paying attention ????
-
I think we are heading elsewhere for Breakout so no Spring Harptree trip. J33P are doing an informal trial event there later in the year that we could go to.
OR, I'm happy to arrange an event there but it needs to be attended by at least 12 weekend trucks to be worthwhile financially (not a loss) and we have always just scraped that number at Breakouts past.

Love Harptree and it wasn't the same last year on a bl**dy motorbike :icon_sad:
Ok, you want confirmed numbers : Pre-pay-pre-book only non refundable - gents put down your hard earned and walk the walk.
Tough but realistic. How much and where do I pay :icon_super:

Harptree was Mrs BD proper birty event last year - we got bout 60 miles before .......... errrrr ...........
-
I reckon Bulldogs truck would be up for the Jeepey Jamboree in July at Tong....
Mainly as its already 98% of the way there and hasn't overheated once in the past few months :003:
-
Talking to Tony from J33 yesterday, he is looking to talk to his committee about Birty's joining up on the J33 7 sisters event in August so more details soon :icon_super:
-
Events being posted up on J33P now, Harptree in September is one and is at Birty's prices too
-
Nice..... :icon_super: could be a busy year :icon_twisted:
-
Hopefully Tony will be posting up about Birty's tagging on to 7 sisters soon to :icon_winkle:
Watch this space
-
Evening chaps j33p would be more than happy to have birtys at some of our events for the coming year. We have posted some on our site so you can have a nosey. Just sorting out a few details but looking like it could be a top year and hopefully ill meet some new folk and boost jeep numbers at seven sisters, always have more landies than jeeps there.
-
Any ideas on CF dates for this year?
Nat is asking??
-
Dates booked are Cheapfest 12 & 13th sept 2015 & Turkey Hunt 13th December 2015
Memo to self, must sort out Breakout & talk to Mr Willetts re 7 sisters comfirmation :icon_winkle:
-
Cheers mate
-
I'll have some of Hawkstone, infact I'm going to be there in April with the Shropshire Lanes boys and girls. And I'll show my face at CF again and this time I won't over heat (hopefully)!
-
Afternoon, any thoughts on the dates for Birties at Kirton?
I really want to get to some Jeep events this year, but I've got my honeymoon from 20th July. The Mrs will be gutted if I have to cancel the honeymoon - she doesn't like the Jeep already!
-
Our j33p event list is up on the forum. Please have a look and see if there are any you fancy. We do have a few safety rules regards equipment etc that we insist on but the main one set by our pli provider is all trucks must be mot'd.
For the seven sisters event we will be offering a small discount for birtys members, the samethat applies to our own members. Clyro is our first event and as usual our cheapest event of the year so if anyone fancies it please pm me and ill help out as much as poss regard registering etc....
cheers tony
-
Oops!
Was looking forward to these two events but with the MOT bit not going to be able to make it.
Rules is Rules and I'm not going to open a grumbling thread ...... :010:
-
We tried our best to get around it but cost wise couldnt justify the extra expendature. You was the reason we tried to get non mot'd allowed. Insurance companies are getting a lot more picky......
-
Thanks for trying anyway.
Here's an idea.....if two clubs host at the same site would this help....
For example Birties and J33P who sign for the rental of .....example....Clyro.
Birties have been there before with our PLI as have J33P
So members who come to the event are either Birties or J33p members and as such are then covered by the appropriate club's PLI.
I'm just running of at the brain here so I don't know if this plan has legs or not.
-
I don't have the requirement in IOM law regulations for the MOT, so........Manx registered completely legal how does that work?
-
nice to see your testing the limit of the "UK LAW"
-
If I regestister as an agric/ forestry vehicle then apart from not being able to travel on the road unless it's from an owners land to more land owned by the person under 1.5 miles away and on road mileage does not exceed 6 miles a week then I do not need an MOT and tax is free. And the vehicle is then Agric/ forestry only......
Think this might Work?
-
Just spoken to a nice Welsh Girl at DVLA.
The answer is YES.......
Sect 7 of your V5c tax ........Limited Use
Sign section 8
Get a form V10 tax application from the Post office
Also form V112 MOT exception certificate plus covering letter as to what is modified usage etc.
My case......logging tractor removing deadwood from Offroad sites....... :hysterical:
Insure as limited use and send all forms off to DVLA and await return.
Ultimately you end up with a taxed(limited use) vehicle that is legally MOT except and legally insured. Vehicle has to be maintained in good condition.....(mine is)!!!
Hopefully this will meet with the PLI requirements of most clubs????????
Any feedback would be good before I press the button on this :icon_biggrin:
-
Funny enough I used that very scenario on the Buggy for import duty from America, top speed can not exceed 30MPH !!
-
Yes....read that.....
Just bang the lever of the Klune into 4:1 and jobs a good'un
If they want to play with the Dana 300 sticks, things will only get slower :hysterical:
-
Tony asked me to respond to this... MOT'd is a judgement call and not a direct PLI requirement, although I believe requiring MOT's and insurance did help us get it renewed... Briefly, regardless of whether a vehicle has an MOT or not, somebody has to examine the vehicle and give permission for it to participate in the event. If during the event, if the vehicle is involved in an accident that can be directly attributed to the vehicles construction/state then potentially the person giving permission for the vehicle to participate can be held liable. For MOT'd vehicles there is an accepted baseline, a baseline that the vehicle must have passed in the last 12 months. For non-MOT'd there is no baseline. This means that for non-MOT'd vehicles the person giving permission must have an extensive mechanical/engineering background (a phrase used by a couple of insurers) and be prepared to take on a lot more responsibility as they must bare the full weight of saying whether a vehicle can participate. After much thought, the bottom line is, I did not feel it fair to ask the two J33P event organisers who meet the above criteria to take on the risk, a decision borne out when I spoke to them later. I am sorry that Wildwood cannot come to J33P events, I've known him for years, our paths first crossed at one of the very early Jeepfests.
Mike C aka Cuffy
-
MikeC, a hopefully quick question......Just to briefly nail this and kick it into touch.....
Would this mean that if vehicle was as outlined above.......
IE Limited use age MOT except and insured and taxed.....would it still not be J33 eligible.
I don't want to go filling in forms for no future benefit.....
-
Or from another member of the commonweath, and as such MOT not required, I have attended J33P events in the past with no problems.
-
:iagree: I feel so sorry for you guys...the parasites the operate under the banner of 'insurance' are fucking you, left, right and centre!
-
I think I can get a MOT
Do I need insurance too for J33p events?? Bloody hope not else I'm out too,,
-
Would engineer reports not be OK, they are based more on the engineering and fabrication of a vehicle and the tester would have a much higher knowing of whats safe and whats not.
there must be some kind of service for heavily modified motors to say they are safe and sound.
-
Yes.....scuitineers..... But they are trained and certificated......
To be seen at all race circuits where non MOT vehicles compete at the highest level......
But WE don't want to have to go down that route do we?????
-
so Im told its not difficult to get an MOT :icon_winkle:
-
For my sins I was actually a MOT tester many years ago :icon_eek: :icon_eek: :icon_eek:
-
Did they have MOTs in the 50s??? you learn something new every day
-
Mine has MOT but no insurance or tax and I believe this is ok for J33P events.
Could you add a few parts to make it MOT-able Jez?
-
Tis the full hydro steering that kills it!
-
All,
I understand your feelings, but please remember the guys who run J33P (and a lot of other clubs) do it as a hobby for no gain and do not necessarily like the rules they have to work under. In the 15 years I've been involved with running events, I've seen a lot of organisers give up simply because of the expectations placed upon them. We did look at becoming MSA affiliated, but then all events would have to be competitive in nature and hence change the entire direction of J33P, plus it opened up the hole can of worms of suitably qualified scrutinisers.
Wildwood,
Sorry, we need to establish a baseline and at the moment all we have is the MOT, so no to MOT exempt vehicles. When I had my M201 no MOT was lawfully required, but I still got one to comply with J33P.
Bgbazz,
Unfortunately its the world we live in. Personally, if Wildwood's truck was in an accident, I know he would not hold J33P responsible. The problem is, the Joe Bloggs we don't know who decides to go down the "no win, no fee" route. I simply believe event organisers should be exposed to as little risk as possible / plus I simply don't want the hassle.
Georgen,
I have no idea about an engineers report? If such a thing did exist, for J33P to except, the issuer would have to act as insurers for the vehicle. So I expect cost would be prohibitve. But please feel to research and report back.
Ezz,
Sorry, insurance is required.
isle of man,
Pass on "Or from another member of the commonwealth"? The only event I remember you attending was a Green Laning trip arranged by Angela which involved driving on public roads, so therefore the assumption was your vehicle was road legal, i.e. complied with UK law. Being an ex-MOT tester, you do sound the ideal person to be an event organiser. Your comments do make me think I need to change the J33P rules to read "MOT or equivalent". I seem to remember that they were talking about introducing MOTs in the IOM?
Mike C
-
That rules a few of us out then,
I was looking forward to 7s too :PonU:
-
:017: not an easy situation to sort
-
I could insure mine but would then also need tax so that's about £700 to find. I do want to get to 7 Sisters but might have to miss Clyro as I hadn't really planned for the outlay.
-
Isn't it just the MOT that they want to see......
Insurance and tax are not relavent......are they????
Saw an old shitter of a YJ and thought ...lllmmmmmm. Get an MOT on that and apply the plates to mine :hysterical:
I'm joking.....lol
-
Thought that only worked on landys :017:
-
Jez, do you not know a dodgy webbed foot mechanic out in the norfolk badlands they will do you a mot over the phone?
-
I think Bubba is spot on, this is not an easy one to sort and there is no way J33P can please all the people all the time. When making my recommendations to the committee reference club rules, I considered many factors, for example club sustainability vs risk for club vs club image vs trailered vehicles vs club history. I am acutely aware of the cost of insurance and the fact that it means you need road tax, and it may discourage folks from coming to J33P events, the start of a downward spiral, especially as vehicles become older / potential changes in the law that may put up road tax / ban on a particular class of vehicle - boy would I like a crystal ball. Consider this scenario, Saturday evening John parks up his non-insured Cherokee at the top of a sloping field, in the middle of the night the handbrake fails and the Cherokee runs down the hill and stoves in the front of Richards tow vehicle. As John has no insurance, Richard is reliant upon John covering the damage out of his own pocket / claiming on his insurance / holding the event organisers responsible. I can hear you saying, it will never happen, unfortunately something very similar did, the guying owning the uninsured vehicle disappearing after leaving site. Has J33P got it right, I don't know, ask me next year. In the end, I stand by my recommendations, especially as I am currently at the top of J33P tree and hence would be in the firing line. Anybody fancy a job! However are they correct, only time will tell. Will other clubs go down the same route? Will PLI provider mandate MOT/insurance/road tax? Will we be able to get PLI next year? A bit of a ramble I know, just trying to put folks in the picture.
Mike C aka Cuffy
-
These threads can often sound like a load if people grumbling but I know from my perspective it's about knowing the rules and working out what events I can / can't do and what I need to plan for (like insurance).
On a much wider note, I can see the regulation of this kind of stuff could quite easily change and become much stricter in the future. It doesn't seem unrealistic that I would end up IVA testing my XJ, getting additional engineer report testing and/or scrutineering and needing full MSA spec everything (cage etc.) just to drive stuff like the rocks at 7 Sisters. The alternative is to modify a bit less and keep everything a bit more tame like a lot of European countries where they can only go up a small percentage in tyre size and suspension.
-
:imwitstupid: I can only speak personally but J33 can have whatever rules they like mate, same as birtys do - we can fit in or not bother to attend, easy come easy go. It does seem that more trailers are turning up at birtys events and Im planning long term to go on a similar route so it will be interesting how it will work out long term.
-
After 15 years I'm almost back where I started, road legal TJ, trailer queen TJ, tubular buggy, road legal Cherokee.
-
But am I right in thinking Mike that only two of this can go to J33 events...???
Bulldog: yes I do know a dubious MOT tester in Deliverance county.......he got busted 18 months ago....... ( and I never used him.......noooooo!)
It's all about having fun....... Years ago I was involved in a Peterborough off road club which was MSA blue book ruled.......IE trials and RTV trials etc but not play days.......
No prob with trailered vehicles with no MOT......all had to go through scruitineering......end of...
Hey.....but what do I know.....???? :strum:
-
Wildwood, agree it was much easier when we first met, somebody else did all the work and nobody had heard of "no win, no fee". Only the buggy can't go to J33P events (self inflicted), but hey ho. To me play day style of events are the problem. Go down the competitive route and become MSA affiliated could be the answer.
-
Afternoon, any thoughts on the dates for Birties at Kirton?
Think talk is coming to KORC the 2nd to 4th October one we are organising.
And we are just paying and using the KORC insurance which is included in the entry.
-
I'm a member of another club that is MSA affiliated, all they do is a quick scrutineering check, sign on the dotted line, put a few punches out and away we go,
-
Well anything this side of September until Nat is back at work rules me out if MOT is required.
-
Indeed, MSA blue book for the IOM4X4 club also.
-
Georgen,

[/quote]
Well a quick Google shows that they do exist Actually, and currently a lot of insurance company's hold a right to ask for one on modified vehicles. One thing that puzzles me about your quote is If these Accredited company,s are good enough for most of the insurance company,s out there, why would they have to act as insurers of the said vehicle, when all your asking for is a current MOT, these reports take the grey area,s out of modifications as in, is it safe done to the required level etc. etc.
I wasn't trying to Bend any rules you have, and would not be attending any of your events, I was just trying to help others with a problem they have attending your events so put forward I thought a reasonable response since these reports are far more specific than a MOT.
I can see as the Man at the top, your head is on the block IF anything happens and because of the way the world behaves these days, someone has to be blamed, then sued, then shunned and stoned.
Personally I wish People would not get so Paranoid and use a little common sense in these matters with club members at official meets.

For those slightly East of the A1 in Cambs :icon_biggrin: that's me and not a lot of others but some may be west a bit???
It seem that LROAC. (Lard rover apparently) have events at Yarwell £40 per vehicle pay and play and trailered vehicles welcome.....been there before and a good day out.
Seem to be at the last weekend of each month.......anyone,want to come????? 3 or 4 or more would be good!
Kirton KORC is another......same deal same price but both days if you want and camping, also last weekend of the month.
So......who's up for doing something out 'Deliverance County way'?
-
I'm in the right part if the country, between M1 and A1 so would be up fir it probably from late April onwards (bit busy until then).

Its 128 miles from me I can do that I need to take the TJ off road soon
or as soon as the bump steer is fixed
-
Weeeee heeeee that three of us then.....
LROAC. Have a web site if you're interested......
I'm only 20 miles away so anyone from further a field is welcome to secure parking and a floor.
Or a camping trip in my garden...... :icon_super:

Yes Peter bring the buggy........ (And some half worn 44s ) tax exiles are welcome......
-
After 3 years of pain i'm starting to see the light, don't rule me out !!!!!
-
Let's do it, I'm happy to pitch my mini tent for a bit of garden camping but it's only local really so might be able to do a day visit
-
Fair chance you can count me in if dates are favourable
-
Kirton is about an hour away from me - so if there's space for a slightly less impressive Jeep than most of yours, consider me there.
-
Kirtons is only 105 miles from me up the A1 and across so yes.....lets do a summer time event there...Tis cold and wet up those parts if the weather is against you.

I'm always up for trip to Kirton
-
What about May Bank Holiday Friday 1st May to Monday
Either that or last weekend in April there a Śat/Sun event.....
-
oh bugger
i guess this may sound a bit poncy (who lord tim - noooo)
But the 1st may is when i get dragged kicking and screaming to Moab by me mates based in Boston
-
We're not jealous at all are we???
They do weekend with camping at the end of each month so plenty of alternatives........

Listening to the views expressed, I've had long discussions with both PLI provider and other J33P committee members about Insurance requirement. Upshot being, hopefully early next week I will be in a position to let you know if non-insured vehicles will be permitted at J33P events. MOTs are definitely required. However, I am happy to investigate accepting an engineers report from a reputable company in instead. As Georgen pointed out, there are plenty of companies who do them, however not sure if they cover Jeeps like Wildwoods with hydro steer. The current ethos behind J33P events is they are non-competitive, folks can come along and just drive a site. In the past we've looked at MSA, myself and others have had long discussions with MSA rep, however as all MSA events have to be competitive in nature, punch hunt, trial, safari, point to point (you have to publish results) plus it put more load on the event organisers, we decided to pass. We have very limited resources to play with.
Mike C aka Cuffy

Ok Cuffy, let us know, it'll be a shame if we can't do 7s :icon_toilet:

could be very useful info at the very least thanks for going the extra mile mr c

I have three vehicles with insurance and road tax, legal to drive here - I give up, this is why the 75 is so appealing to me, I really should sell the buggy and the mafia - time to move on.
-
Quick post to say I've not forgotten about this, just taken longer than expected to sort.
-
l have three vehicles with insurance and road tax, legal to drive here - I give up, this is why the 75 is so appealing to me, I really should sell the buggy and the mafia - time to move on.
Give me the mafia and I will keep it road legal and let you use it whenever you like :icon_super:
-
PLI is now sorted and I can confirm that non-insured vehicles will be permitted at J33P events. Please note, the club may apply specific rules to non-insured vehicles to make sure they are not-driven in areas accessible by the public.

Give it to me and I promise not to cover it in mat black pond linner paint and regulary maintain it and clean her :greggmo:
-
PLI is now sorted and I can confirm that non-insured vehicles will be permitted at J33P events. Please note, the club may apply specific rules to non-insured vehicles to make sure they are not-driven in areas accessible by the public.
Looks like we're going to 7s, I'm sure I can get an MOT,
Cheers Cuffy :strum:

I only found out this morning that J33P changed the date from 17/18 April to 11/12 April and I can't attend as I will be working nights.

I say chaps
there seems to be a space in one's off road jaunts calendar
one likes to try and do stuff every month and there is sod all happening in June
any thoughts
-
Well, Lord Tim. I'm off on the bike 15 th - 25th May but seems there is a Clyro opportunity on
25th ish weekend July
But as for June
How about a Birtys meet up at KORC I know Clayt aka. Asylum would be up for it with Mark.....
How was Moab???
-
Yet to come
i travel out on the 1st then to Grand Junction to meet up with the other Patriot Jeepers from Boston
then on to Moab on Monday wheelin" (notice the slip into american) tuesday thru friday
jolly excited , what!
I'll have to get the passport out fro the Kirton trip - but yeh up for that
-
So I was away and missed the breakout 24th type thing and am not posh enough to go to his Lordships Moab gig :icon_biggrin:
Only joking.......but tis end of May and still to anything this year..... :jpshakehead:
So anyone up for these two events??????
Spondon are doing Clyro 24th and 26th July
J33p .org are doing Seven Sisters 1st and 2nd Aug
Both are cracking sites but Seven Sisters takes the prize.....
Trouble is they are a week apart so if I did one and was unbroken it would make senses to carry on south west and make a few days holiday........somehow don't think that will work for me sadly.
So anyone doing these events .......oh yes got an MOT on the 1 Tonne now, so woopy do I can play with the other boys now :icon_super:
-
Definitely 7 Sisters for me, it will be my first 2015 event too. I like Clyro but doing it a week before is too much of a risk that I'll miss 7S.
Good work getting the MOT :icon_super:
-
I'll be at 1 of the 2..
-
i shall be at seven sisters
-
camping or hotel? I might go for the Ancient Briton again just so I can enjoy the weekend as a proper break from everything and not have to sleep on the floor and be bitten by midges!
-
Glamping for Lord Tim then....... Mongolian Yurt hung with chandeliers and footmen in attendance. :hysterical:
-
Is there a 7s event later in the year?
-
We have an event at seven sister the 21/22 november. No camping its a hotel job. If you do fancy it id recommend booking hotel asap as the abercrave we use is nearly full allready.
james think all hotels fully booked for summer event me and p shapter fancied some luxury but unfortunatley was a no no, so plenty mossie spray......
-
well there goes my plans thank you !! mr W
i suppose one will have to dig out the yurt and kick the footman awake
-
Tony , thought u liked camping or are you getting old....
-
i shall be at seven sisters
I will be going to 7 sisters in August too if I don't damage the Jeep too much before that as I am going next weekend to do some trails in the Alps and then Maggiorra for last weekend of June then back to UK to go to the Jeepey Jamboree in Tong for first weekend of July.
I am a bit surprised there isn't much on here about the Cheapfest 2015 yet.
I hope it is still on as I requested leaves to go there too.

Who's planning to form the Birty contingent at the J33P Seven Sisters event in August?
-
me me me
I does love that site
-
I'll be there, a long journey, but worth it. :icon_biggrin:
-
Hopefully the Sunday ... never been
-
I'll be there :icon_super:
I'm one of the helpers at the November event too, so get to sign folk in and maybe lead a group around the site.
-
Cool, looks like a good group of us so I'll get my Birtys hoody out.
Camping seems to be necessary so I'll get the insect repellent and plenty of booze.
I can't wait for this - I can see the end of work and house extension stuff in sight and this event too. All things at once and some busy weekends needed but it'll be worth it to smash it up and break stuff on those rocks :icon_twisted:
-
Who's planning to form the Birty contingent at the J33P Seven Sisters event in August?
I'm a maybe James, I committed myself ages ago to going Clyro, I didn't realise at the time it was the weekend before 7s.
I'll see how work, Clyro and of course the TJ pan out, Clyro will be it's first outing

What did you expect BD ? A stupid question like that had to come from a Froggy. :wave-fingersmiely:
BTW talking about Seven Sisters, if someone is looking for a B&B and not worried to drive a bit to get there and back from the 7s site I just booked a room at The Lamb & flag (they still had rooms this evening). It's just under an hour away but they also have a band on Friday night that should be good with a pint or two (dozen).
Me and my GF got eaten alive by mozies when camping in Maggiora a fortnight ago and I had a feeling something wrong could happen if I tried to force her to get the same treatment twice in one Summer. :headhack:

Plans are in motion ade for CF2015
-
Can everybody coming to 7S with J33P in August please register before the weekend as we are trying to gauge numbers for BBQ/Campsite.

Hi Mike,
I registered and paid on 13th July by bank transfer Natwest to Natwest but I still haven't received an email to confirm that I paid so I emailed the commitee earlier today to find out why.
I won't go camping and BBQ as I booked a B&B.
cheers,
Chris

Thanks guys it does help....
I know lots of you have had a loss of your best mate but it's only when it happens to you that you realise what a massive hole they leave in your life.
Guess I'll just bury myself in work and welding shit to more shit :icon_super:

I'm up for this Cuffy, I'll be trailering the TJ there, will there be any brave folk camping?
I'd sleep in the back of my van like I did at cheapfest but only if others are camping, if not is everyone in the same hotel/ b&b? Is there plenty of parking?
And finally I understand the TJ will need a MOT, anything else?
Ezz

Ezz, a few of the Jeep guys stay at the Abercrave Inn http://www.abercraveinn.co.uk/ (http://www.abercraveinn.co.uk/)
There's also the Ancient Briton Pub down the road http://ancientbriton.co.uk/
If either of those places are full, then consider the Craig Y Nos Castle http://www.craigynoscastle.com/
There are also a few other B&B's in the area which may also be open.
-
For those that trailer which is the best for security and parking overnight?
-
Ancient Briton has a big car park behind which can't be seen easily by people driving past. I stayed ther last November with trailer. Abercrave is a bit tight on parking from memory but I've never stayed there with a trailer.
-
Hello
Abercrave Inn is full as of a weeks back. As James suggests, try the Ancient Britain.
We don't organise camping in the winter, showcaves is shut and weather to unpredictable.
Craig-y-Nos can be expensive, however they do (or possibly did) dormitory accommodation that's pretty reasonable, ok if there is a group of you. Also carpark is pretty big.
Only requirement is vehicles are MOT'd.
Cuffy
-
This sites old RAC rally stages about 15 miles south of Brechfa??
-
Before I book, is anyone else that's going staying at the ancient Britain?
Also is it safe leaving the van and trailer at the site during the day?
-
A few people do bring their vehicles on trailers, which are left in the car park all day, and removed at night.
Ted is planning to stay in the car park / meeting area at the site, so security shouldn't be a problem during the day.
-
Trailers aren't normally a problem during the day. I used to chain mine to the tow vehicle but that was probably overkill with Ted around.
The Ancient Briton is only a 10 minute walk from the Abercrave Inn so if people are eating at the Abercrave you can easily join them and walk back to the Ancient Briton.
-
Will be bringing the hob and kettle down so there will be hot drinks around.
-
Just signed up for seven sisters, booked in a pub about 7 miles away with an unpronouncable name. Will be my first event with J33p and at seven sisters :icon_super:
-
Top work Donk, you will love it.
