Hello all, attacking my cj from all angles at the moment...
I need new hardware for the new water pump, everything i took off was rusted, snapped and mangled...
I've been quoted £20 for the studs! anyone know what thread the standard studs are and correct size, lengths etc? im assuming something imperial? (which is i why i dont have a clue!ha ha)
thx all

It doesn't specify the threads in the 86 parts list. In the TJ parts list the threads are all .312 which is 5/16". Mounting bolts to the engine on the TJ are 5/16-18 (UNC) the studs for fitting the fan on the TJ are 5/16 18 - 5/16 24 and 1.25 inch long. That might be a good size to try. Not sure if we'd have anything that size in work or not.

Thx Jonny, this forum is most helpful, refreshing compared to others! cheers again.

Couldn't find the box with studs in today which is bloody typical. Nothing ever gets put back when people are finished. I'll try again tomorrow.

are yours lost ?
i probably have them in the many bolts tubs at in my shed left over from the many cjs i had but i have to say you should be able to find them from any good engineering hardware suppliers

Found the box. Only two of them in the size I mentioned above. PM your address and I'll stick them in an envelope so you can try them for size.

Not much help now I know but I found it really useful to buy a cheap imperial tap and die set. Rubbish for tapping from fresh but great for finding the thread size and cleaning out rusty/dirty threads.

Posted the studs with a couple each of 5/16 unc/unf bolts. Stuck a normal and nyloc nut on each end of both the studs too.
