Title: ZJ to WJ front propshaft conversion
Post by: Sooty Si on February 22, 2016, 10:15:50 AM
Apart from the transfer case end joint, and the matching flange on the transfer case itself, what is the difference between the ZJ and WJ front propshafts?

Is it possible to swap the transfer case flange on the ZJ (NP249) for a WJ one, and fit a (substantially cheaper) WJ front prop?

From what I can find, the WJ ones come in various lengths from 745mm to 868mm, including the 830mm same length as my ZJ one.

Any other considerations?

Oh, and as my front propshaft is buggered at the moment, is there any risk in driving with no front propshaft for the time being? It's a '96 JGC limited with the 4.0 auto setup. 42RE box with Dana 30 front diff, Dana 35 rear diff and the 249 transfer case.
