it could be free bio diesel and you would still regret buying a diesel jeep, your real choices are a petrol jeep or a diesel of a different make sorry to say

If it has to be diesel, don't buy a Jeep.

Some sources call the VM a tdi, but it's not in the VW sense. The tdi in those Jeeps just means it has an intercooler -
it isn't direct injection. The fact is that it was derived from a boat engine, designed to chug along at constant speed
for hours on end. Don't buy a VM that isn't direct injection. If it doesn't say CRD on the back, walk away.

Carrying on from NBs post, I'd say they time to buy a VM XJ or ZJ is when the gooberment is paying you 10 pound
a litre to burn diesel.

If you can't stretch to a 2002 KJ or 2002 WJ CRD or later, then forget the idea - other 4 wheel drive vehicles are available.

Fair point. In general, putting SVO into a direct injection/common rail engine is a bad idea, cus it's just too gloopy
for the high pressures used. With a 2 tank system it can be done though.

I suppose it will depend on the quality of the bio diesel.

I seem to remember reading some posts on www.loskjs.com (http://www.loskjs.com) or www.jeepkj.com (http://www.jeepkj.com) forums about bio diesel in the USA, but I think that was on about the commercial 5% or 10% bio disels.

Jeeps don't  do diesel, what you save is rapidly swallowed the day it goes wrong on you.

The XJ is the lesser od 2 evils, at least only the engine is crap.
