TJ Windscreen Wiper Issue
« on: April 27, 2013, 08:13:42 PM »

Evening,

I've notice on a couple of occasions that the Windscreen Wipers on my 97 TJ don't work; turn it off and on again and they're all sorted!

Not a massive problem but does anyone have any ideas what the cause could be?

Cheers,
JB

when you say off then on again, are you talking about the wiper stalk or the ignition?

Might be the contacts in the ignition switch. There are several and the one that supplies the wipers also supplies the radio and indicators. In a 97 it also supplies power to the accessory relay. Any of those dropping out when the wipers don't work would be indicative of that.

Next time they play up I'll try the indicators (I've not notice any issues with the indicators and I use them a lot more that the wipers) and give the switch a clean; hopefully that'll sort it.
