Brocken sway bar mount
« on: December 08, 2013, 06:21:12 PM »

OK,

On the TJ where the lower end of the JKS disconnect attaches, or rather did, the bracket has brocken off.

With a 2" lift, will this be the right replacement & I presume if longer than standard I will need to do both sides ?

didn't have a proper look at yours Gaz but if disconnects are already extended to suit std mounts then surly you need to keep the same or they may not fit

I'd weld the original one back on first, your quick disconnects are adjustable anyway to I can see the point in buying those unless your weld repair doesn't hold

Yep, original can be welded but was thinking would it be stronger to replace with a fresh one

Buggered if I can find standard ones 3/8" thick. Might have to buy thinner like these http://www.4wd.com/Jeep-Lift-Kits-Jeep-Lift-Kits-Suspension/Front-Sway-Bar-Mount.aspx?t_c=1&t_s=101&t_pt=4307&t_pn=R%2fERE9992
& copy at work just make them thicker

Phil - I don't have a front sway bar anymore but when I did the WJ conversion I just cut out some new sway bar links mounts out of 8mm steel. It might be an idea to speak nicely to Gaz about getting a pair cut out of some chunky metal  :icon_winkle:

Cheers Cleggy but I only need the extended axle bracket, I was thinking of making me own as James suggested but it would save me some hassle to get a used one already made...
I must owe you a beer anyway though.. :003:

Phil,

I plan to make a few identical ones & may even get some standard ones as patterns & get some made up, if not a little thicker for extra strength like the extended one :icon_winkle:

I'll let you know when the extended one lands & it has babies  :003:
