Sorry to bring up batteries again; its a dud subject!
But I could use your advice:

Got back from 2 weeks in Asia at the weekend; not surprisingly the TJ's battery was totally flat!
Before I'd left it had 'lost its idle codes' on 2 occasions & as Woody had previously suggested it would be caused by a low battery!!

So I need a new one & quickly either West Mids/ Worcester (ideal) or nxt day mail order:

Either get an el cheapo one (if around 1/2 the price of a premium) or get a optima:

So far:
Local lardy place (M&M Motors) will do a Redtop Optima for about £130.
Is this the right one; size(no idea)? Red (as I have no winch at the moment).

Or Halfrauds;
£62 for a 3yr guarantee, or £88 for a 4yr. (both looked smaller)
If I was going to spend 88; I may as well go the rest & get Optima.

Other ideas; Odyssey (Xtremely expensive) or Fiamm.
PTP's recommendation seems good.

Current battery was original; its done good serice; 7 yrs!

Thorna.

Have a look here

Someone on J33 swears by these Deta batteries, and I had my Optima from Thursbys, next day delivery.

I can vouch for Deta. In another life, I mess with diesel locomotives, and Deta batteries are what we use to start the Sulzer 12LDA28C twin 12 cyl diesel turbo engine on a BR Class 47 loco. It's started by running the 1.1 Megawatt generator in reverse, so the batteries have to be pretty good!

BTW, that's 2580hp and 263 litres of engine.

Thanks for all your advice guys; as usual spot on!
I.O.M. Cheers; based on your comments I ditched the optima idea!

It was either Premium or cheapo; I couldn't get to Cradley to source the Premo Deta (Cheers Bubba for offer of directions)); without being ferried around for the week in the girlfriends clio; never fun!
So I went in search of a 32quid Lucas   With 20minutes of shop opening time I ended up with a 'banner' for £65!
Well it now starts so thats a bonus, thats about it!

Roll on some more interestin buys!
