My CJ.......the saga starts!!!
« on: June 06, 2005, 02:07:17 PM »

Right, shes booked in for MOT this afternoon, so lets see whats wrong with her!!! :smt102

The wiring under the dash looks like a snakes breakfast, but thats a job for another day!!

Those hideous sidebars are now history, all it took was my fat arse standing on em & bang! Off they came!

Hope the MOT went OK (well as ok as it could with no wipers!)

Wiring like a snakes breakfast sounds familiar!!! The fusebox should be behind the glovebox (well it is on mine!)

Hmmm....the whole wiper circuit is not too complicated so I guess the usual places are the best to look fuse, switch etc.... mine just got plain jammed once (someone had put a pen on the dash and it fell into the windscreen from through the air vents!)

I will give him a slap with a wet jaffa cake!!!

Be easier to make a trailer out of his cherry if the back end wasnt bent!!

Sorted the wipers, just needed tightening up where they come thro the bulkhead which was causing them to jam...easy!!

It didnt fail on anything that I didnt know about, which was good! Now all I have to do is get the work done! A friend of mine gets his hands on it tomorrow nite, so it might even be on the road for sunday!!! Apparently, the tester couldnt find the VIN plate........any ideas before I go rooting about??

Forgot to mention that the cherry went in for MOT at the same time & screamed thro!!! That makes it an even bigger bargain in my book!! The only costs since I bought it have been mods! Cool!!

the vin plate is on the dash on the passenger side. if you look through the screen on that side you will see it. if not there it will be in the engine bay.

Mine is on the bulkhead, under bonnet above battery carrier, but probably of no use regards yours KD as i guess you`d have seen it if it was there. :(  :(  :(  :(

Cheers Mort, checked all those places this afternoon & ........Nope!!! Gonna have to make one I expect!

I had my first blast of any length in the beast last nite, taking it across town to my mates workshop for the welding, etc & I must admit  that although its a bit of a giggle when its warm, I cant see it being my cup of tea for the colder nights, etc so I really dont know if I am gonna keep it longterm. Call me a softie but I like the comforts of the XJ...........

I know what your saying mate. It had to be a big fleece and hat for me!

At the moment she's sitting on the drive waiting for me to have time to sort out the back brakes.

Will probably get it done just as the "warm" weather ends.
