97 wrangler alarm
« on: March 22, 2008, 04:42:40 PM »

had a strange one this morning, alarm sounded on gails truck

went out with key fob and tried to re-set, no good
bloody thing was real loud, so disconnected battery, it carried on
thought it was coming from rectangular box under brake master cylinder so disconnected that, it carried on
realised battery must be dead flat so reconnected it, then jump started from other TJ. I then could re-set the alarm

My questions are, where is it powered from and where is the sounder. I think these were fitted by dealers as they came into the UK so are not shown on circuit diagrams etc.

Any info appreciated   :-)

The siren has it's own internal battery.

Funny you should mention that, I have a couple of jobs, one of which is in Bosch making alternators, and we work continentals so leaving for work at 5am one day went to start the jeepster and bugger the batt was dead, I had been under the hood the evening before and dont think I closed it proper so the light underneath killed the batt, trying to jump start the bloody thing just kept setting off the alarm, the thing is I always thought they were a bit wosey, a bit whimpish but at 5 in the am with the bonnet up shite
