Title: Suppliers section
Post by: Dave69 on July 03, 2010, 06:22:29 PM

nice to have a section on good suppliers but is it worth going one step further.

given that money is tight for all of us would it be worth having a thread in a similar line to "member location" but where prices for consumables and vendor can be shown. by this it could give an idea for potential costs etc. obviously there is the suppliers from overseas but i was thinking of maybe:

handbrake cables xj  £18 each lighthouse 2010

at least then it would save trawling the internet and rigning vendors for prices. obviously this will only give a ball park figure due to exchange rates etc.

tyres wouldn't realy be included as their prices are easily obtained and are always competative.

posts are only related to the vendor item and cost, any other will be deleted mainly to keep to the origional thread idea.

been toying with the idea for a bit now, but since i needed to do a complete overhaul the rear brakes it was just a case of finding prices. it does get a bit of a ball ache looking around vendors for the cheapest price so i thought if there was a list of general consumables then it would less the time lost looking. Lighthouse is good but at times they are not the cheapest.
cheap is not always the best as we all know but at times if it means getting the transport on the road then so be it, and a more robust part could be sourced at a later date.

OK have added a sub board to suppliers called "What I Paid" set so you can post but not reply and requested that part and car are in title.

recon we run it for a week or two and then decide if it works.
