On a 98 4.0L auto should the atf level be checked at idle in N or Park? Handbook says Park but dipstick says N?
Thanks

Don't matter. Just take it for a drive and get it hot first. Use Mopar ATF3 or ATF4 to top up, not Dexron.

OK thanks, but what if you get different readings in park and N?

THey're both neutral but P has the transmission output mechanically locked so the vehicle can't move.
