Title: cj7 reversing light
Post by: IrishKenCJ7 on April 12, 2015, 10:44:38 PM
Did the uk spec cj7s have reversing lights. Looking at the lenses on mine i dont believe they had but the haynes manuals suggest there was on america spec ones. Ive got those horrible trailer/landy lights at the back. Just amber and red.

79 yr doesn't require reversing light, hazards or rear fog light. But can be retro fitted if required

My '77 CJ7 was a CKD assembled in South Africa, it has the standard 'Truckman' rear lights with reversing lenses, so why not treat yourself to some sexy new light clusters, you know you want to and they look good too.
As CJs are only single wire systems using the earth as th return line it would be an easy job to fit the correct lights and run a wire in for reverse, if you didnt want to look where you were going you could even fit reversing sensors!

The tail lights on most CJs in the UK are, at best, mickey mouse, at worst a total abomination. Best bet is to use tail lights off a TJ or YJ to tidy it up and get all functions in an authentic looking unit.
