Title: XJ Diesel - oil pressure related stuff
Post by: XJ Fan on September 08, 2020, 04:40:26 PM
Hello,

I have “Check Gauges” lit up on the XJ, and the oil pressure gauge isn’t reading above 0 (although does drop below this to the rest position when the ignition is dead, so I am assuming it has power). Does anyone know where is the sensor located, so I can check lose connections before ordering new parts.

Cheers

right hand side of blocck, at the back, in the most difficult place they could put it.

But before you do that - are you running fully synthetic? - if you are oil pressure drops off the scale

Thanks, I’ll have a look later on to see if I can find it.

As far as I know I’m running semi-synth, which has been in since December last year, and the issue appeared this afternoon, ao I don’t think it’s that, but thanks for the pointer.

on XJ Diesels there is a modification for repositioning the oil pressure sensor away from the turbo, it moves it to the filter housing, i did this on my last XJ diesel after having to change the sensor twice, i bought the kit from Jeep.

Cheers Frosty, do you have any links to buy the kit?

it is very hard to find now, but i will try to get hold of the guy that worked in the parts department in what was Kings Jeep stockport, that is where i bought my kit from.

Cheers Frosty. Well, the light turned itself off yesterday, and the gauge is now working again. I’ve not touched it, but I’m glad it’s not an issue any more (for now at least).
