I want to replace the speakers in my front doors. I tried a set that I had lying around, but the speaker was too deep, and the window wouldn't clear it when being wound all the way down.

Can anyone recommend a set of speakers that fit like the factory set please?

I was told that there are some 6.5" speakers that will fit, but the pair I tried didn't at all. I've got some 5.25" Infinity References in mine, but I still had to drill new screw holes for them.


What year is your XJ? If it's a '97+, does it have the Infinity system? If so, I managed to find some components where the tweeter will fit in the factory location with no modifications.

I have a 2001 60th Anniversary 2.5TD manual without the Infinity system. I know 5.25 should fit, I'm just not sure about speaker depth fouling the window; and without aircon, my window is mainly wide open this time of year!

Yes, mine are wide open too!


From what I can recall, I think around 2.5" is the maximum depth, but you'll probably want to check that
