XJ Indicator Relay - Where to buy a new one?
« on: June 01, 2020, 07:03:34 PM »

I am trying to find an Indicator Relay for my '99 XJ, but eBay only seems to list the earlier version, or it is incredibly expensive when you do find one listed for a '99.

Does anyone know anywhere else I could try?  :017:

EuroCarParts has nothing.  :icon_sad:

 :iagree:

RockAuto should also have them. I bought a couple recently (although for a different vehicle) and I'm sure I saw XJ ones on there.

Edit: Found them  :003:

I think this should do.

There are a couple of land rover flasher relays on there a little cheaper and you'd get them quicker too it seems. I just couldn't confirm the pinout is the same, though it probably is.

I think you need a 5-pin flasher like above but can't remember how may pins my original relay had. I'll have to have a quick look in the garage, I'm sure I saw it in the last few weeks.

Edit: Had a look. Nowhere obvious so don't know where it was, or if it was a 5 pin job.

If it's anything like a WJ one it can be repaired. The WJ one has two tabs at the bottom, push them out and the case will slide off. One of the legs had a crack in the solder.

Sounds like I need to dig out the faulty one in there first for a couple of reasons, as it means I can get the part number and look at the pin-outs and second to see if I can open it to repair it.

As is often the way, I was looking for something else  :magnify_125: when I stumbled across my old relay. Once I found it I obviously remembered where I'd put it. :017: It is a three pin relay anyway so would have been no use.
