I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler bought in the UK in 1997. It has an immobilizer integrated into it. From what i've read this was a post factory UK add on before going to the dealership. It came with two remotes, one remote was lost many many years ago by my dad and the second has just broken. The jeep is stranded and wont turn on as the immobilizer is always armed. Does anyone know if the immobilizer can be removed? I have seen threads online about this issue with other UK TJ jeeps but no clear resolution, with recommendation not to remove the 97 UK ones. This immobilizer is hard wired. To complicate things i shipped the Jeep out with me two years ago as i'm working abroad. I am at a total loss, love this car, she has so much more life in her and to be defeated by a broken immobilizer remote is unthinkable!!
