Title: Project TEAM MEAN!!!!
Post by: isle of man on March 05, 2010, 05:30:08 PM
So it begins after much thought the tow vehicle has been started it's transition....

First the underbody protection - sorced from ORC Germany.

Now the 30mm lift (respect I know) also from ORC Germany.

Then we have the RT03 265/70/17 tyres (10 ply) from B.I.T.S in Preston.

Surco roof rack from a club member (purchased under the influence) with mount for axe spade and high ift.
Complete with a set of KC daylighters.

Next on the list is the GHAY winch from Tank....

OK I'm in a bit of a bind (nothing new) mounting the spare tyre on the roof has left the carrier on the rear empty I can have a dump bin kinda thing custom made, this would be very handy, or take the foooooooking GHAY pram handle off the TEAM MEAN ML.......Amanda wants to keep it on - saying that the larger tyres have also gone unnoticed by Amanda!!!!

oh my godfathers!
sorry i thought u didnt like it, that is steep!

but yes, its plotted so either cut or spray a template will be needed, you need one of those wrap companies that look like
custom spray paint, like that starwars jobby, it is a very complex thing to look right, and I created that from scratch, a number of
skins, rugs etc and its simlified. The .eps is just an outline for the ploter to follow, the flattened artwork would be for a
huge all in one sticker rather than individual stripes....
I'm sure we'll come up with a way...sorry Peter  :icon_redface:

Today wile searching for a winch mount I stumbled across this 80litre extra petrol tank,  it fit's inplace of the under slung spare - TEAM MEAN consumes petrol like Cynthia Payne consumed customers.

And at almost £2,000.00gbp (delivery UK) it cost's just as much!!!!!

Is it known as 'The Wedgie'?
Where Doug Slug got run over, Waggers nearly backflipped his TJ and Pete S exploded a halfshaft in his Cherry?

If so, it's much more fun going up :003:

Is it known as 'The Wedgie'?

No Paul - did the Wedgie Today - this is at the top you can see the electric fence on the right of the ML and the northern view over the Island and Scotland in the background.

Well today I was stuck - the ML is not very good in the real slippy gulp!!!

I have now figured the best gear/box combination for this now though - can you believe low 2nd and traction on was the best for gulp!!!!
Have added couple more dents on the ML and totally scratched the paint now - not shiny anymore :icon_eek: :icon_eek:

Steve the tyres are seriously good for the mooolar,  a couple of times today they surprised me yet again with the grip - look at the windscreen and the gulp up the sides of the ML!!!!

Just a little thing I have noticed - they do have some road noise - this can be overcome by turning the radio up slightly higher - or if like me enjoy the hummmmmm over 90MPH.

I suspect that if Freddie Mercury was still alive today and he went to the Merc dealers and purchased the homosexuals car of choice (that being the ML Mercedes) he would decide when choosing his garish paint job that tiger stripes were too overtly ghay even by his standards and would instead settle for a string vest and some leather chaps to prove his homosexuality.
Title: Re: Project TEAM MEAN!!!!
Post by: Dave The Sparky on July 07, 2010, 09:28:45 PM
Furthermore i also suspect that if Kenny Everett was still alive today and he bought an ML Merc he too would decide that tiger stripes were too overtly ghay even by his standards and would instead choose to be in a bush on Hampstead Heath wearing some enormous hands to prove his homosexuality.

Team Mean could be for sale - have a 164 (newer shape) ML500 due in PX  :icon_rolleyes:

Yes has full MB service history and 60,000 miles two owner including me - a little battle scared but needs for nothing other than a bit of fettling on the bumpers oh and drivers door errrr one rear door also - would happily jump in and drive south coast today!!!

Any photo taken for the cautious as have nothing to hide.

Beer££Vouchers needed???

and I take it you will keep all bolt on goodies........?
Title: Re: Project TEAM MEAN!!!!
Post by: isle of man on January 11, 2012, 03:13:58 PM
Bolt on goodies that will stay would be the 1" suspension lift the winch plate and side rails as they are welded by phat phuks the remainder would be required for the replacement ML!!!

Not sure I want to do this as TEAM MEAN does everything I want of it.

Cash I guess £4,500 without the fancy winch or £5,000 with the winch - just had new front and rear brake disc and pads thats over a grands worth :010:

ah I just noticed the needs new doors so potentially a respray

and I am officially thick once again as I had assumed the 7 seater was longer, not that it just had a seat/s bolted in. On the plus side would only need one.

hmmmm

Indeed lift from ORC - 1.25 puks in the rear and crank up the front just right for the 256x70x17 tyres - what do you think on the new colour wheels?

Does give it the offroad look and less urban SUV.

How's the gearing with larger tyres?

Not affected still tow's very well.

The RT03's lasted two years and 15,000ish hard miles, sadly no longer available that's why I changed to the KM's.

Decided to up-date this, photos to follow.

I'm constantly amazed by this vehicle, but believe it has about 12 more months remaining in it, 30,000 miles off road grief is starting to show - recent purchase includes another set of wheels/tyres this time I went for the KO's .

I'm planning a 55AMG as it's replacement, but with Dana axles !!

It will be the Dana's currently under the Mafia but with those German portals adapted to them, it will be about stance not lift or flex.  KILLER AXLE  (http://www.killeraxles.com/bolt_on_portale_e.html)
