Piston rings?

Could be the oil pressure switch faulty - very common. Doesn't explain smoke though.

White smoke=Turbo problem

I believe clean white smoke is water.

If it was the turbo i.e. bearing, seals or shaft oil would be getting past and the smoke would have a blue tinge to it.

it was a real real wet day rained for hours  mud up to the eyeballs,
truck got a right soaking

oil pressure dropped after a long steep descent

Is the idle still as smooth as it was before?
Title:
Post by: chicken_legz on April 03, 2006, 08:48:27 AM
bit lumpy . starting also feels different

there was a loss of power when leaving site , a noise like a slipping belt
noise stopped , power returned ????

Could've ingested a bit of water and squashed a conrod. This could cause rough idle, white smoke. Get a compression test done.
