Title: 4.7 WJ LPG - busting the myths?
Post by: Birchy on July 23, 2020, 10:15:44 PM
I have a 65k 2004 WJ with the non-HO 4.7 V8. I am going to be doing a lot of miles across Europe (C***D-19 allowing) and I'm thinking about LPG conversion. I've heard lots of horror stories on the 4.7 v8 but I've also heard lots of "mine's run LPG for 150k miles fine" stories too.
I'm pretty certain I'm going to go for it, and am wondering if anyone here can recommend a genuinely top flight and trustworthy company who genuinely knows their way around LPG and WJs?
Thank you,
Ben

Not an expert by far.  The only thing I heard of is that it is advisable to have that valve lube system when burning gas in a 4.7V8

I'm sure one of the grown ups will be along soon.

run valve lubrication additive as the heads arnt cast steel and the valve seats will be prone to recession due to the higher heat, other will be on to confirm
