just save the distributor vacuum feed and blank the rest off, most of the piping was for california emmisions compliance.

thanks of the offer JJ, had a father/son day today and finally pulled the 4.2 out with Dans help.

next is to mod the right side frame mount, will be cutting the top off the old FSJ mount and metal gluing it to the original CJ mount.
then swap g/box, clutch and flywheel and the V8 is ready to fit :003:

still on schedule for Turkey Hunt,

have frame mount back now fully welded (my welder wasn't man enough so got a m8 to do it) V8 should get fitted with clutch and box Saturday and fitted in CJ on Sunday,

then have 2 weekends to get ancillaries and wiring refitted, in time for a workshop slot to fit new rear leafs and shackles all round.

that will leave me all of November to get exhaust made,  :100:

did get a load adjuster for the engine crane, best 30 quid i spent in a long time.

grease trick worked a treat, spigot bush fitted by 9am, went a bit south from there :jpshakehead: after a clean up of the fly wheel noticed a load of cracks on the friction face, prob just glazing cracks, with with the amount of wear (about 2mm) decided to try and acquire a replacement.

thought best make the best of a bad day and fitted the block, less flywheel, clutch & gearbox, went in a treat, the modded frame mount lined up and is now all comfy in it new resting place :icon_biggrin:

a crack is a crack even if you want to call it a glazing crack. you dont want those propergating. it's quite impressive what a failed flywheel can do

good day today with only a few minor snags to sort in the morning, hit my target of getting flywheel, clutch, gearbox, trans and props fitted, took and age to get the gearbox mount to line up, had to loosen the block and hang off it to reposition it, snags are 3 bolts, lost 1 UJ strap bolt but think I have some spares in the workshop, and 2 bolts from the bellhousing, on the 4.2 they were through bolts with nuts on the V8 they are blind bolts but again no issue quid each max from factors on Monday.

tomorrow it gets harder, putting the ancillaries back onto the block and try and work out the elect and fuel, off now to sacrifice a few gerbils in hope of reinforcements :100:
