Ecu remap

Has anyone gone for an ecu remap ? I'm specifically talking about the 3.0 CRD here but any examples good or bad please.

At the moment I've got an adjustable tuning box on and it's pretty good. Definitely feels better to drive and better economy. However I've always been told that a remap was a better bet and now mines out of warranty so the dealer won't be overwriting anything or tutting over the warranty.

I'm thinking about using these guys.

Thanks for the enquiry, as a 4wheel drive tuning specialists we see a lot of this engine in and have tuned a large number of them to date accross our European dealer network, with our UK HQ being here in Sunderland.

The 3.0d 218bhp engine respond really well to our software upgrades, and our stage 1 remap gains are very impressive with a typical gain of 50-54bhp and 70-90nm of torque, of course every car will gain different amounts of power however you will recieve the 'before and after' power and torque curves plotted on a graph for you to keep.

Our stage 1 remap consists of the following as standard:

Full visual inspection prior to any work
Diagnostic testing to ensure no existing faults are present
Rolling road test to plot the original power and torque curves and ensure its producing expected power figures
Stage 1 custom tuned software (usually takes around 2 hours to create based on live data from the dyno)
Final power testing to overlay 'before and after' power and torque curves
Copy of power graphs for you to keep.

As you can see, we go to a lot of effort to do things properly, we are not a 'flash and dash' type tuner that simply downloads a file from the internet and flashes it to your cars ECU, we dont offer mobile tuning and we don't send cars away untested, it does take longer doing it properly and literaly hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of equipment used on every single car that we tune, but its the only way to remap a car professionally. Here's an example of a BMW 231 330d that we tuned recently:


The total cost of our stage 1 remap for your car is £349

As an added bonus we usually gain 12-15% more fuel economy on this engine!

 Just out of interest I had a tuning box/chip on my 2002 WJ 2.7

The results were excellent and of course a lot cheaper. A definite increase in power and drivability , never rolling roadbed just feel. It also achieved a decent increase in mpg. I transferred the box to my 3.0 CRD as it has the same rail connector as it is adjustable (after advice from the seller) and it works even better, an excellent improvement in economy.

However I've always been told a remap is better and after speaking to Sedox and looking on zensports site I'm starting to understand ............ I think lol
