98 XJ central locking... Very intermittent...
« on: December 23, 2018, 11:58:07 AM »

Hello All,

My 98 XJ central locking has gone very intermittent, sometimes either one or both buttons do nothing. For example, this morning, neither of my FOBs would open XJ, even when FOBs were held close up to drivers mirror (RHD).  However both would close it! The range of the FOBs has always been poor, always had to be standing very close to drivers door. I've replaced both FOB batteriers and am now beginning to suspect central locking unit module. Any thoughts? Normally I wouldn't be to fussed, but as I often travel with Bozzie the Dalmatian where the back seats used to be, not being able to lock/unlock rear doors is a PITA.

Check the wiring between the doors and the body there prone to faults
