I got the shakes...
« on: May 16, 2005, 12:07:40 PM »

...and i don't why. Right around 65-75mph i get a front end ossilation. Not the front driveshaft (took it off to check), not the wheel balance (had them redone on Friday). Hubs are still OK (LH one is new). Dunno what else would cause a wheel balance/front driveshaft kind of vibration. ONLY does it between 65-75mph, any other speed its fine)

Front pinion bearings are looking worn, but with the driveshaft attached, it shouldn't have enough mass to make this vibration. I did switch the tyres around front to back (33" BFG MT's). Shocks might be getting worn too, but i doubt they would be causing this. Rose (heim) joints don't have enough play to create it either.

Any ideas?

Yeah Bubba, its not a constant vibe, it comes and goes. I'm leaning toward damper. Now i have to find out who stocks Rancho dampers over here.

You could try Team Wrangler for a direct part from 4WD do 1-2 day delivery. Do a search from here: http://www.4wd.com/shop/search.asp for what you are after.

OK, got the jack out, gave everything a wiggle. Left hubs knackered (again), heim (rose) joints could do with changing. Fortunately i can lay hands on a hub, just have to find heim joints.
