I've just fitted a cb in my yj,  with the same ariel as chris.

I was told they were pre-swr'd in the factory, but as no-one seems to be able to hear me i'm guessing that it needs tuning? Maybe mounting it to the tyre stop is causing the problem?

Right,....

Just been out an, checked I've got a real good ground on the stinger.

Now gettin' an SWR readin' of 1 on ch.1 and about 1.7 on ch.40 and the first thing I heard when I switched the rig on was German!!!!!! so I reckon it's workin' now!

So Trent, check the ground on your mount mate, it's probably the cause of your problem too.

Are you sure it wasn't Welsh?

You never need to chop a stinger, the whips the correct length for the coil. 1.7 is pretty good.
