My "winch type thingy" turned up today!! Ordered at 4pm yesterday, on my floor noon today!!!! Cant recommend Rebel4x4 enough!!!

I know they are primarily Landy specialists but for winches & stuff they seem very keen on price. Even PG Winches (who came highly recommended by Greggmo) couldnt get close on price!!

Good price KD

Just out of interest, whats better and why,
The integrated solenoid bridge,  or the solenoid over the motor (at the side)?

I suppose the integrated bridge solenoid is ok if you have the height for it........you wouldnt want it if you were trying to "hide" it in a bumper for example........also means you dont have to find an alternative mounting for the solenoid........dunno the difference otherwise........

What I do know is that its feckin heavy!!!!   The bridge probably makes it heavier than the other.........

Might be worth adding to the suppliers list........

Sounds good KD - any reason you went for that particular model of winch? Also found a source for "Champion" winches from the US that seem very (suspiciously?) cheap... any thoughts?

I looked around for ages.......looked at champion myself as they seemed good prices, then got some feedback from Greggmo as his seems to get more use than most (hehehe) & an earlier post from Bubba seemed to rate Superwinch top, then Warn, then Ramsey..........I dont think you can beat recommendation for anything!

I reckoned that the extra 130 notes more than the one Mike bought was worth it for Superwinch............spoke to quite a few dealers too (not just superwinch dealers) & they all rated the EPi9......apparently its exactly the same as the Come-up DV9000i (best price I could find on that was £435)

I hope not to have to use it much.........

A future upgrade might be plasma rope......as I know this winch is ok with it! Something worth thinking of if you are buying a winch........

All I have to do now is get my custom bumpers fabricated..........

glad ya got one sorted mate. there is not a lot of diferance in them for having a seperate solonoid other than the fitting of it to your truck. hope you ordered the spacers for your skyjackoff kit, the ones to lift the front back up when ya fit yer winch. he he he he he. oh and your heavyer bumper he he he he.

Fair point on the price, KD - suppose if you've got the right one first time, then its cheaper long term - though I have to say as less than 300 squid for the 8000 Champion I'm more than a bit tempted. :?

Plasma is another thing entirely - lighter, safer, easier to handle. Definitely worth a look and the EP is a good winch for that given the external brake. Decisions, decisions...

Least I don't have to worry about the mounting points - Landies are a piece of cake as far as that goes! :)
