Title: 02 2.7Ltd Grand Cherokee turn signal problem
Post by: Tankdude on June 01, 2011, 01:10:21 PM
Help,

In Wales atm and all the left hand turn signals have decided to through the towell in.

Wee history of the problem.
Turn and hazards were working fine when I first got the vehicle, 3 weeks ago, then just the turn signals stopped working. I didn't drive the car for 2 days and then they were working again.

Been in Wales for 4 days now and yesterday the left hand side turn signals just stopped working, and now when I switch the hazards on the left hand side still don't work but the right does.

I've read somewhere else that the solder on the flasher relay can get weak and crack so I took it out yesterday and to be honest can't see any cracks with a magnifying glass.

I'm really at a loss now and the nearest Jeep garage to me, when I get home, is miles away, and they'd probably charge an arm and a leg.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Im no expert but sounds like a dodgy relay maybe,or a loose connection somewhere.Relay would be my first port of call though

just had this myself, your relay is fubar :jpshakehead:
you'll find it has dry joints on the circuit board :jpshakehead:
I took it out and re-soldered it :003:
its also at bit of an arse to get to, up above the fuse box, behind the dash
mine was blue

Without sounding too much like a retard, you re-soldered The whole relay even if it looked ok? Looks like I'm off to Halfords then.

I'll give you a shout if it works or not.

I just went to Halfords to buy a soldering Iron dude!

Anyroad, got back that night and basically got drunk instead of trying to fix it. A week and a bit down the line I finally managed to drag ma arse of the sofa and attemp a fix.
After about ten minutes and some swearing, relay out, re-soldered, re-fited, tested and.....It works!

Job done.  :icon_super:
