Brake Discs
« on: January 18, 2013, 09:06:23 PM »

After Nat's mishap today,

The rear disc is in 2 halves, Do I need to replace both sides or just the damaged one?

Cheers

:iagree: new discs and pads required, and you could have a buckled wheel now or bent shaft

Ok, so pair of disc's and pads.

Wheel still need to sort, I know Jedi's got a set but need the 3inch lift to fit them.

As Cockney Boy stated I am concerned about other damage,

What else could it have done / is there anyway to check shaft as Rob mentioned them?

Wooo! done that a few months ago! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Kerb 10 Jeep 0

I wrote off the wheel, split the disc and bent the half shaft :010:

I eventually sourced a new shaft and fitted new discs!! pads and shoes!

Keep in mind that the Diesel half shaft is 1" shorter than the petrol ones ( no idea why but they are!! oh and there a larger diameter too! - more torque you see!  :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin:)

Good luck

if the shaft is bent, which is highly likely, it'll be cheaper to sling another s/h axle under it .

Wheel is usable, only the rim bent.

But Shaft is screwed!

Do I need specialist tools to replace the half shaft,

What do I need, obviously new shaft, do I need a fitting or bearing kit as well??

Is it a drive fix or specialist tools needed?
