Quick one re tyres
« on: May 12, 2014, 10:18:50 AM »

Managed to get hold of 2 nearly new and 2 very good part worn tyres for the ZJ.

Am I better putting the new ones on front or back?

Cheers

J

Best tyres on wherever they will be used most

I was told if it's fwd then they go there, & if it's rwd they go there

if it's permanent 4wd then rear as that is more likely to need grip than front

This was via a tyre monkey

I was told to put the deepest tread on the front as those are the ones you'll be praying will stop or steer you out of trouble.
Sounds fair to me.

Thought it was accepted wisdom that tread depth should be uniform on all corners with an XJ otherwise you could be headed for transfer case problems. I am prepared to be corrected by those with greater wisdom.  :peekaboo:

Sorry Jay. Must try to keep up to date.   :icon_redface: I see your XJ has gone but I believe the ZJ needs the same rolling circumference.

Right,

I have got 2 new Insa Turbo's.
2 50% worn Marshall Road Venture MT

1 new Marshall Road venture MT
1 new Venture MT

Obviously the 2 above are different tread patterns is this an issue?
