"slipping 2nd gear" ?
« on: May 22, 2008, 04:04:41 PM »

I'm considering a Grand Cherry, but the seller has said that 2nd gear "slips" sometimes when it is cold, but generally only does it a couple of times, then it is fine.

Would an oil change (gearbox) help fix this? or does it sound more serious?

It's a 1996 Grand LTD 4ltr. 96,000 mls, unknown history.

What he means by "slipping" I'm not sure, as presumed it was the clutch that slipped and not the gears, and it would only get worse not better after a wee while...

Any help appreciated.

you would need to know more about how he thinks 2nd slips or what exactly happens  as the jeep is an auto and doesnt have a clutch as such but a torque convertor.
