I'm going to replace the ABS Tone Ring on my XJ tomorrow, does anyone have any useful tips?

I've recently done this on mine.
A Dremel is helpful to cut the old one off, plus clean up the mating surface for the new one. Also, try to avoid hammering too hard - I ruined my UJ, although I think it was on its way out anyway.

I did not get time to do it, too busy welding! :icon_rolleyes: So it is still on the to-do list.
Do you have to slide the drive shaft out of the axle?

Yes, you'll have to take it out of the axle, plus remove the wheel bearing/hub from the shaft. :003:

But you should be able to knock it off with a cold chisel and lump hammer, I've removed old ones and been able to sell them

There's no actual seal that comes out with the shaft, the only thing you'll see is the plastic dust cap that "seals" the end of the tube.
