Jeep WK 3.0 Litre CRD odd vibration cured !!
« on: October 04, 2019, 10:56:14 PM »

Had a very intermittent issue with a strange vibration at speeds of over 20 mph up to 70 mph. Checked tyres for bulges etc all good. It seemed to usually come on when driving on long journeys on dual carriageways. Even thought it was  road surface related felt so bad wondered if a drive shaft was on it's way out

Read a post elsewhere that if the handbrake did not release properly then this could be the cause - seemed unlikely but when it happened a few weeks ago I checked the rear wheels/hubs for overheating. Found that the offside rear hub was very hot. Handbrake system checked & main cable had broken outer plastic sleeve and cable was badly corroded inside. New cables fitted - handbrake "feel" is much better & vibration has gone!
