XJ rear shock absorber recommendations
« on: February 03, 2021, 02:54:53 PM »

Hi All
I am looking at changing my rear shockers before my next MOT is due, its probably been asked many times before but what do people recommend/buy these days.
I don't have bottomless pockets so dont want to spend a fortune on them, i have seen some Terrafirma units on ebay which sound ok and are only forty odd quid each, dont know how good they really are.
My XJs the TD model( i can hear the moans  already) and been lifted approx 2.1/2" - 3" so i need longer than standard shockers, i use the Jeep on shooting trips and it only carries guns and equipment nothing heavy, and dont do anything extreme with it, so any recommendations/ experiences from people would be appreciated.
Cheers Ian

I'm not clued up enough to advise on length, but I've recently put KYB Gas-A-Just shocks on all four corners of my XJ. I'm completely happy so far, to be honest I can't really tell the difference from the stock ones.

plenty of dampers out there and its a case of personal preference to be honest.

have a look state side on quadratec (there are others) site for the recommended sizes for lift for a cherokee.

Since your not pushing your jeep hard and for "light use" then it really doesn't matter what brand you fit. Monroe are a good choice but more middle to high end in price.

ran skyjacker on my old jeep with no issues

link to quadratec site for example and length details
