Title: XJ setup info wanted!!!!
Post by: ponyracer1 on February 11, 2005, 06:01:30 PM
I have a 98 TJ and I have decided to purchase a LHD XJ as there is NO WAY I'm going to fit 5 people in a TJ. I am planning on keeping the TJ for another year or so, or until every TJ in this country has custom bumpers and sliders!!

Here's the plan:

4.0 XJ
any year
probably 6.5 lift, something able to clear 33's with no or minor body mods.
full interior cage
front beard suspension seats
harnesses
coated floor (no carpet)
front and rear pre runner style bumpers with front winch
1" diameter custom roof rack

I will be leaving the engine bone stock, as I will be taking it back to the states with me in 2 yrs and will instal a chevy V8. (smog legal of course) I will also be installing a detroit locker and gears to match the tires and motor that I end up with.

Can you cherry guy's think of anything I missed? Any changes you'd make?

Thanks

OH yea, talked to PRO TOOLS in Fl last night. My bender shipped 2 days ago so sometime in the first couple of weeks in march I'll be starting to bend up bumpers and sliders. NOW FOR XJ's TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep - good front/rear recovery points, my XJ always needed them so wranglers could pull me out :D

Rear Disc Brake conversion, the type of offroading you get over here eats brake shoes.

In the garage? I was thinking of a custom under seat keg with a tap built on to the rear bumper????? I don't have room in my garage for a glass of beer let alone a fridge.

Besides drinking and fabrication don't mix.  I've seen what happens when someone says "free beer and pizza" if you help me build a garage..... there wasn't a straight wall in the place. They ended up spraying there names on the walls and doing circles around the keg all night on his riding lawn mower........
