Title: Which winch is best??

Looking to put a winch on the TJ, what weight rating should I be looking at? Who makes the best ones? Hydraulic or electric??

thats a tough one, i recon at least 8000lbs pull. the lecky ones are easier to set up and will run on the batery even if the motor aint runnin. the only other question to ask is how bigs your bank balance???

I'll be ordering it from the states, prob about $500 US. The only other thing is shipping it over here. That may present a problem also.

you can ship what you like whithin reason, just have to pay shipping and duty. 8)

Why not try and get one over here you might save some money when you add up the sipping and inport costs.

I've seen a bunch of "no name" brands on ebay, is there a good manufacturer over here? If I get it from the states it will go through the post office so theres no tax or duties....

(they will only ship 70 lbs though)

super winch warn ramsey are best in that order i rekon but its down to choice and price dont go below 8000lbs bigger can be helpfull all can be got here or state side lecky is easyer to use fit and repair hydrolic are v pricy and can only be used with engine runnin no good stalled in water sexy and diferent they maybe think carefully what you want hydro need pumps or your pump moded [$£] leky a better battery or maybe two and the deal is done :smt028

OUCH!! Hope I can get one from the states for those prices!! Looks like I'm going to try for a MILE MARKER electric, 8000lb pull.
