TJ Oil Pressure guage
« on: May 06, 2005, 09:31:21 AM »

What should this read?

My scale reads 0 dash 3 dash 5.4

When accelerating hard it rises to just below 3, when coming down a slip road off the motorway having been doing about 80 it dipped to nearly 0 and when ticking over it sits just above the first dash - is this right? :?

It's usually the sender going t*ts up. You'll find it near the oil filter, very common failure so try this first.

Gauges are normally designed for standard operation needle will be vertical so that would be a 3 on the TJ.  At idle mine sits just below 3 and as engine revs increase it rises to a bit above 3.

If your worried put an aftermarket mechanical gauge in it. That way there's absolutely no guessing. As long as it climbs with the engine rpm I wouldn't be to concerned. You could alway's go with a little thicker oil on you next change if the gauge is accurate.
