re my cherokee - steering play
« on: May 10, 2005, 08:52:12 AM »

should there be any play in the steering ?

when stationary but with the  engine running,  i can move the steering wheel about half an inch either way before i feel any resistance and the wheels start turnin, if i gently rock the steerng wheel back and forwards about an inch in either direction then it feels notchy in 1 place , on the road i have to correct the vehicles direction.

i was told that this was due to the tyres and the camber of the road. i accept this my be correct for a country lane but not a dead flat m way.

does this sound normal or an i just being paranoid,

thanks

Is it actualy drifting to either side, or is the steering wheel just off centre?
