Title: lower control arm bush problem
Post by: georgen on November 03, 2014, 05:27:40 PM
I have a 97 Tj with a 3.5” short arm lift from rubicon express and that has been on for 10 years, the lower control arms bushes especially the rear are shot to bits, the front ones have superflex joints up front and bushes on the rear of them, I will have to import these so I might as well get all bushes needed in one go, problem is looking them up it seems they are two types of bushes superride and normal ones. how can i tell without pushing them out and is they not a complete overhaul kit available for these arms.
Thanks in advance.

The bushes are specific to the RE arms as they don't have the raised section that the Jeep OEM ones do (although I have pressed the Jeep ones in before with some modification and a big press).

Your arms will be the Super Flex ones, not Super Ride. Don't forget to remove the grub screw before trying to undo the flex joint end (sorry if you've sussed that already but it foils some people).

FTE supplied me with all the parts for a re-furb when I had them on my XJ, including the tools to undo the flex joint end. Prices weren't too bad.

I have just bought a couple of the big rubber ones in from the USA.

- but try Dave at Llamam4x4 - he says he can get them (wish I had known before)

Cheers guys, who is FTE?, I know the metal bush is super flex but does the rubber bush go by the same name, as I have seen bushes like a hour glass shape and standard straight.

Ask for Steve, they don't update the website very often but he can be contacted on facebook. http://www.fte.co.uk

Did you get sorted with wheels as I have a set of 6 16x8j steel wheels off of my TJ?
