Title: Special tool required
Post by: Jeepster on March 19, 2005, 07:01:11 PM
Help!!  :smt089

Has anyone got the special tool that is need to take my rear diff apart( sorry i'm not very tecnical)or know where i can buy one.
I've got a '95 YJ with a busted rear bearing which is lovingly poring oil everwhere!!
I've been to the main dealer and apart from the fact they have never done this job before, they don't even sell the tool to do it! :smt017
Apparantly it's to undo a small nut to release the "c" clips in the diff.

You need a 1/4" ring spanner to undo the retaining pin that holds in the shaft through the spider gears. Undo the pin, slide the shaft out, then push the halfshafts towards the centre of the axle to remove the C-clips.
