Very first thing to check is...are all your brake lights working?

Yes, of course these are other places to check, but  the brake light thing is one of the most basic things to check...the failure of a brake light bulb will cause a fault in almost every cruise control system in modern vehicles. I'm not suggesting that ALL  problems stem from this, but I have come across this situation before...in Jeep KJ, Nissan Patrol and VW Golf...was always the brake light bulb.

Anyway, I wish you good luck.

Does your horn work ?

If not, chances are you need a new clock spring but make sure you buy the right one, have a search on here using the search tab, Im sure this has been dealt with before, related link below

Is the steering wheel switch dirty?

If nothing shows on the dash, that would suggest that it's not even attempting to turn on. Even when mine didn't work, the light would show on the dash.

The "On" switch in two of our Jeeps sometimes needs a particularly hard press and hold for a second to get it to work. I think it's easy enough to remove the switches so you could spray some contact cleaner in there.
