2001 WJ won't unlock!
« on: November 01, 2019, 11:01:42 PM »

I haven't driven my WJ for about 2 weeks but I have unlocked it this week to load up for a charity shop run tomorrow. All seemed OK but when I parked next to it tonight I noticed that the alarm LED is now on constantly (alarm was fine, LED flashed during arming but then went off last time I paid attention). I thought I'll unlock it and run it for a few minutes and then lock it again. However, neither remote will unlock it now! I assume the alarm will go off if I unlock it with the key, will the alarm disable if I then start it up? I suspect the battery may be low so may have to jump it but I can't think what else to try.

Panic over! It was just a flat battery. The alarmed didn't go off, just the hazards when I attached the jump leads. A good run and the alarm seems to be behaving itself now.

When the WJ's battery power drops all kinds of weird shit happens.

Good you got it sorted. :023:

"a good run" won't be enough to fully charge a battery. I'd get it on a proper charger and then get it load tested. If it's bad it'll only get worse in the cold.

It isn't currently my daily driver but my wife's Hyundai is in the garage so she's using it daily at the moment. I'm going to put a new battery in it relatively soon though. The run was two half hour A road trips but I'll keep an eye on it in the short term.
