Could be chinese lanterns, I know they have become quite popular and they get to quite an impressive height.

Thanks for the update on what everyone had to eat, I found it a great consolation standing waiting at the arrivals hall not having had anything more than an overpriced Costa shedloads coffee :011: :003: :003:

the lghts where no lanterns. all at the same alt at the same speed with virtualy no breese and they all made a perfect turn towards redditch.

The orange lights were strange, quite bizarre if you Google it too. My phone pic was too shaky to see much.
