If it helps, and seein as im a tart, the closer to warm weather works for me :icon_super:
-
was south last year, next one by rights should be up north
-
Hawkstone?/Buildwas?

-

:hysterical: Since it is deffo on the calendar now....yesterday after walking mutt ended up in a local watering hole for a pint or two.....waited for her 2nd pinot grigio...
Darlin ? ? you always wanted to go campin, did you not ? Well let's go on a campin trip next April.....why/where ?......Well...errr somewhere in the middle of (nowhere) the country....Why ?....well errrr.....there's this Birtie Jeep thing happening every springtime......Why ?......Well...errrrr...to meet up with all the guys and have some fun....do some froading....talking some nonsence....have a sherbert or two.......Why ?... :icon_rolleyes:

Are woman really from Mars ? ? or a couple of galaxies further away :icon_rolleyes:
-
dood, i dunno whether im dumbfounded or full of admiration for ya honesty :hysterical:
my preferred route is to "mention it again" with 4 weeks to go and when she says I know nothing about this I become outraged that she never listens to me as I had clearly talked her through it all several months ago :hysterical:
its called playin them at their own game, its those little bits of sport that keep a marriage fun (& she knows it!)
anyway, we digress, and somewhere between me n Dutch sounds cool :greggmo:
-
Cornish Lanes?
-
More than happy to host your event, ample camping area's. No problem with a camp fire (we'd even provide the wood)
Serious Note if you are interested in usining Buildwas let us know.
cheers

hmmmm, I suspect we are being out manouvered Dutch :011:
at least FerretJ will have no excuses not to attend, its virtually in his back yard, so we could all have a tour of his jeep museum as well (sorry dood :003: ), its a crackin visit
-
how about something like this
2009 - midlands - done
2010 - south west - done
2011 - north east
2012 - south east
2013 - north west
obviously there will need to be enough intrest for each before anything is confirmed
-
TBH mate much as I would love to take a 20 min drive to Woodlands or somewhere like that for the weekend, its a big ask for most, and it would be a pisser if it was only a few birties there, and again TBH i woulda thort the North West / North East would present the same prob, whereas at least if its in or around the midlands its central ish for everyone so is a more realistic journey to make, ie. i may well go to buildwas for a day trip, but i wouldnt be goin to the North East or West to do the same
that bein said, dont forget the sun :003:
-
its as much about trying new places as anything else, and we do have a lot of members up country that a northen event east or west would mean a much more accessable event for them.
any case an event in the north east would still only be 200 miles from you, easy lazy days drive in a CJ
-
closer to 600 mile more like
if we had one at the top third of the country, cheapfest, and one in the bottom third it would make a lot more sense to me
-
closer to 600 mile more like
seriously m8 the site we are looking at is under 200 miles from your front door
-
Were working on the concept Bulldog has a working Jeep... :hysterical:
-
has anyone mentioned appreciating in value jeep classics against haemorrhaging value like a puss from a freshly lanced record breaking boil modern electrickery time bomb yet?
just checkin :greggmo:
I have the faith, oh yes indeedy do, i have the faith, praise be to Bubba's MJS - hallelujah !!!!
-
I think you should all come to the south coast( not that I am biased of course!. You can bring your knotted hankies an deck chairs too. My pal even has a great little site here too that you can use for the weekend.I can also supply a couple of tonnes of oak firewood to keep thing civilised. .www.core4x4.co.uk (http://www.core4x4.co.uk)

now we talkin :F2963JIF5GDQOXEMEDIUM:

I am not going to get involved with this north south midlands thing cos i aint bothered about travelling a few miles to events, BUT others are :icon_winkle:
All we have to ensure is that wherever we use we attract sufficient trucks to pay for the site and any other expenses incurred. The breakout last year was an example of how difficult it is to make an event pay.
It really is not as easy as you think and dont forget you need folks to marshall and man the gate etc

I agree with the north/south thing. I don't participate enough in this club to try and argue one way or the other. I threw CORE in as a bit of a giggle, but if you are even remotely interested, I can give you Rob's details. It doesn't cost a fortune to use, and he does it on a per car unit which should reduce your exposure to risk.As for marshalling that isn't a problem ( I would be there too to help out and know the site intimately) Likewise manning the gate should not be difficult either, given it's layout.
-
how about something like this
2009 - midlands - done
2010 - south west - done
2011 - south (east)
2012 - north east
2013 - north west

Fixed it for ya :098:
C'mon your savern poofs.....put your money down now :D
-
You southerners get far too much as it is.....like the 2012 olympics, the Millenium dome etc when the Midlands was always a far superior choice, the best beaches and the best of the sun and the snow........... :violence:
-
dont forget the good looks as well
-
That obviously didnt travel far enough south in your case mate.... :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:
-
im more "unique" :lol_hitting:
-
one good thing about Ribbo is the number of locals that are known to the club that attend, from the head count i saw barely half were "club" members, but good numbers were there and made it a great weekend.
-

I'm glad all those things are down south, since they have to pay for it with higher local taxes and charges :098:
Back on topic, the best location is the one which will get the most attendees. Will it be the majority of us poor northerners who can only afford to travel a couple of miles, or the minority rich southerners in their flash Grand Cherokees? :greggmo: :icon_biggrin:
-
Ivan you BIETCH!!!!

good point, I can see if Dutch will tow me up there :003:

Rich southerners in GC's...tooo much Titanic Ivan :hysterical:
-
i'm not fussy either, try to get to as many different ones as poss, nice to meet new people etc
i'd suggest tong, but it is yorkshire way, so leave it.....
where ever funds permit, or work in a mini break with minimo, who will be released next year!!!
and is preparing for induction :icon_biggrin:

Tong is apparently a good site though never been myself but i believe it to be an expensive site to rent and unless you can guarantee the numbers it would be easy to run at a loss
-
Tong is agreat site IIRC
Know Im being a vocal yocal...(nowt new there then ) but Buildwas are trying to get the event and its central for most Birtys..
-
it is great, but aye a very long way for some
if a place is suggested on here, it is surely trustworthy for newbs then mr finger? :icon_biggrin:
-
Kirton has it all :003:
Home to KingCJ
Up north, but worth a the trip.
Especially if you like Rocks etc....
IMHO Best all round site me thinks :icon_super:
-
Especially if you like Rocks etc....
Huh....I'm not a farkin geologist :098:
Since I've already softened up Mrs. Dutch this early on anywhere will be fine, providing the hard-core boys can play in their bit and there is sufficient soft-core opportunities for the noobs. See it as black, red & blue ski pistes.
The hard core boys (and their gear) will be awsome to see in action and the more experienced of you can teach the noobs a trick or two.
Suggestion for committing numbers as you want as many of us to participate : (hope not to controversial)
Rather than starting a thread two weeks before the event....are you coming ?
Pre registration with a £5 fee to the Birty account. If you turn up this will be credited against
the final entry fee for the event.
If for any reason you cannot make it this fee will go into the Birty donation pot.
Flame away :icon_biggrin:

Well the Car Park at Kirton is "Hardcore" Made up of Small rocks, pebble and sand :003:
But im sure your 4x4 would make it further than that?
Theres is something for everyone at Kirton. Even a Cafe, Toilets and Showers :ecomcity:
-

I'd have to check the manual for that.....hold the phone :hysterical:
-
Ribbo is good cos you get to meet ya mates like a big party and that's very excellant
Clyro is good for same reason but then I've only done it with Birty's Very good course and can be as tech and rocky as you decide..... long way from the fens tho :jpshakehead:
Tong is where most of my offroading has been done up to last Jeepfest in 2005 and then a few Jeepey events..........
Was a better site when the rocks were open, but now restriction on tyre size and stuff I'm out...............still been there about 12 times so happy memories
Kirton looks like its developed into one of my favourites, rocks mud tech bits and facilities and 106 miles up the A15 for me. Plus I know King CJ and the other guys so not like ya turning up as Billy no mates.
Must admit that as a failed Englishman who spent time in Oz and California I'm biased to the warmer weather time of year make a weekend or more of it and its even better...........especially if ya journey all the way to Seven Sisters.............also very good for everything.....
-
we got some long weekend bank hols comin up
-
closer to 600 mile more like
seriously m8 the site we are looking at is under 200 miles from your front door

be good to see you mate
-
Yo Greggmo.....are you already taking bookings for this event. ? ? >:D
Sorry poor choice of words.
-
if i knew what ya was on about it would help? :017:
-
Breakout was a march event but clashed with clyro, so was passed over this year, may be on again next year, the events the club are planning to attend are listed here (http://www.birtydastards.com/frm/index.php?topic=13283.0).
and there will also be plenty of impromptu laneing trips and some regional play days
-
so next pure Birty event is:
Clyro Court 25th-26th June 2011
Baskerville Hall Hotel
-
Sorry, was looking at the home page under events :
Birtys Breakout at Wagtail TBC June 2011
Wagtail 4x4 Centre,
Halford
nr Shipston on Stour,
South Warwickshire
(TBC) now confirmed then. Roger that.
-
oh in which case i may be wrong
-
wagtail was gonna be booked but i didnt get it sorted. my bad.
-
end of April is the next available event. i can not book a lot of events simply because some places are expensive and if the turn out is crap we have no money to pay for the use of the site and i sure aint got the cash to cover it myself. keep your eyes open for other stuff to do in between our own events and go check them out. most clubs are welcoming and all clubs need support these days. i wish i could risk booking lots more but its just not easy while money is so tight. i do hope things pick up for us all in the coming years.
-
One has rather mentioned shed loads of events/sites in the past.....
