This years Breakout is at West Harptree (site postcode is BS40 6DQ for those that would like to work out how far it is), probably on March 31st and April 1st, been to the site today and its looking good, not been used for offroading since last October. it has some well maintained metalled tracks running through and around the site so a standard truck with A/Ts will get around but the good stuff is off the tracks, lakes (under 2.5' deep) mud pits, lots of twisty bits even a few rocks.
we need to confirm at least 25 days entries (or 13 weekends) to break even on this and we will confirm when this is done, it will be a pre pay only event, so no entry on the day, if you want to attend then you need to pre book. methods of payment will be posted in a few days but will make it as easy as possible for every one so will include paypal, cheque and if needed will work out a way for people to pay cash direct into a high street bank account. any pre paid money is safe, if the event does not take place due to lack of interest then all pre pays will be returned in full.
most important thing is THIS EVENT WILL NOT HAPPEN IF YOU DO NOT PRE BOOK IN TIME, this is the first time we have done it this way but its the only way we can get an event to this excellent site.
pricing as follows per car (tow cars don't count)
camping, per night - £5
offroading sat - £20
offroading sun - £20
so full weekend arriving friday leaving sunday £50 or arriving saturday leaving sunday £45 or not camping (those staying at B&B) £40

What do you call Band B? I know of at least 5 caving huts within 3 miles of WH site, some more salubrious than the one in Wales, some a bit rougher!! Some within walking distance of the Hunters Lodge....

what is the cut off date for committment NB? On the one hand im def coming but on the other hand Im back to being without a operable truck after 2mrw so dont wanna shell out £50 and the Chief isnt done (shouldnt be a prob but playin it safe)

Put me down too, only for the saturday and camping though. Is there room for a 30' motorhome cos i don't do tents and shall i bring a small pa system (can do massive but i'm sure 20k of Turbosound and Void wouldn't go down well with the next county yet alone the neighbours!)? Oh and i only live 5 miles away from the site (less if you use the green lane) so if anyone needs to, i have full workshop facilities at mine......

Ok everything now set to go so can now take payments, got a few ways for those interested to make payments, PayPal, Cheque/BACS or cash at either Feb or March pub meet, as soon as we have enough to cover cost will give those that have paid a week to pull out, after that the deposit will be paid to the site. if we don't get enough interest by mid march the event may be canceled, if this happens everyone will get a full refund.
prices are:
full weekend: £50 inc camping friday/saturday
one day: £25 inc 1 night camping
full weekend: £40 no camping
one day: £20 no camping
the week before the event we will send you an email with your booking number, please bring it with you to make it easy for us

steady best cruse speed is 50 but most new hgvs are only 52 you cover the ground in good time they will go faster but t gets very thrashy dont forget we only got 60 hamsters for power with 4.88 gears

I know it's controversial but if we want this event to go ahead I can only see it happen if we do one off two things. 1, increase the entry fee, 2, invite other Jeep clubs. I'd hate to miss this site and especially when there's been so much effort put in to get it.

So I gather that we're basically staying/sleeping in a field, with apart from two shitters, no amenities to speak of. Got a tent, been sitting up in the rafters for ages, better check if everything is there.
If I travel up on the Friday afternoon I'm looking at 2 overnight stays soo :
- drink : dig the beer bit so will probably get a gallon of Betty Stogs (in one of those plastic containers)
- foodwise : do I cater for 2 x breakfast/lunch ?, pizza's on Sat I hear, go out to find some grub on Friday evening ?
- Jerrycan of water to brush my teeth and wash away the cobwebs on Sunday morning ?
From different threads I've read that you guys drag around heaters, stoves, fireplaces, kitchen sinks....etc...
What tips can you camping/jeep meet hardened chaps give a complete and utterrrr noob ? :003:

don't know if there is a drinking water supply on site so bring some bottled water
bring more food than you think you will need, don't know about others but the fresh air make me even more hungry than usual
dried and tins are the easiest food stuffs to bring but a small cool box and then you are ok with the proper foods like bacon
some sort of stove is pretty much essential but can be a £5 throw away or a £200 all singing all dancing stove choice is your but start small (cheap) then see what meets your needs before you commit
and don't forget a kettle, sauce pan, plate and mug. sounds basic but until we got organised would regularly forget something, good news is there will be plenty of other that can help you out if you get stuck.
for saturday night pretty sure we will be able to sort a pizza run.
