I have for my ZJ Dana 35 a set of 30 spline shafts and an ox locker (cable operated) can anyone recommend someone who could fit the parts and set up the diff for me either a business or a kindly birty member (don't expect a freebie job) I have everything needed to complete the job, seals diff fitting kit ect. I'm based in Hertfordshire but don't mind travelling. Ideally I would like to get it done mid June.
Thanks in advance
Ty

Hi
Thanks for the input, i have changed ball joints on Dana 30 axles in the past so know they can be a challenge but i have enough gear to assist, just wasnt sure if it was worth spending more money on H/Duty joints or if it was a wasts of money.
I do like the idea of being able to grease them, dome font have nipples, not so keen on so called sealed for life parts. Will have a look on Ebay to see what I can find.
Cheers for your advice.

Did the ball joints on my Grand a few years back. Plenty of stuff on YouTube that I used to assist and take the guesswork out of the process.
Just replace with OEM stuff from Lighthouse, it’ll last for ages.

not realy seen any difference with heavy duty and factory apart from fancy colours and cost. Most end up bring damaged in the same place if off roaded.

most of the time they end up sized in place and the heavy duty puller struggles. Heat is your friend along with a big hammer for help if the puller doesn't work

Hi All
Just some advice from anyone who has had to change the front axle ball joints on a Dana 30 axle on the XJs  I had my mot yesterday and was given an advisory to replace the front top ball joints as they showed signs if wear.
I assume its best to change both upper and lower at the same time but i wanted to know from anybody whos done this job before if its worth the extra cost off buy aftermarket HD joints vrom the states or just sticking with the factory Dana or Spicer made joints available over here.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Ian

at least you have a genuine knowledgeable answer, i assume its a one piece gasket, as the individual ones require the end plates modifying.

you gain nothing from individual gaskets as the gaskets are covered by adjacent heads, so when you remove one you disturb the head next to it

Cheers Dave, they're the lads who sent me the thicker gasket by mistake, they say it doesn't make any difference.

As you have probably guessed the one hole and two hole identifiers mean different thicknesses in the gasket. Technically yes you can use it but will it cause an issue with running......possibly.

for the correct answer give these guys a ring on Tel: +44 (0)1246 455350

They will give you a definitive answer advice for the task your taking on
