Title: Freeze Plug - Core Plug 2.5tdi XJ (98)
Post by: snozzer on March 22, 2010, 07:14:53 PM
Well, I was about to take the head off to change the gasket, but no find that the coolant leak is from what looks like a core plug on the No1 Cylinder right at the front (on the RHS) that has let go.

Bloody manual doesnt show anything, is it an easy fix?

nope. as long as you can get to access to it to  get it out and get one back in and a hammer and centre punch to it, you should be ok. ( got to admit tho never done one on a diesel)

If you can get to it you are VERY lucky - and just change it.

If you needed to remove it to change it then you must do the head gasket - and you should change all the plugs (others are likely to be in similar condition, but shove antifreeze in and hope they don't go)
