Title: Replaced stereo in 2000 XJ , keeps tripping out.
Post by: peters877 on October 21, 2014, 08:47:13 AM
Hi
I'm a newbie to this site so would like to say hi.
I apologise if this has been covered before hand.
I have just changed stereo in my Cherokee and the 4 speakers. I used the correct harness connector adapters.
What happens now is if I turn up stereo over mid way , I can hear a relay click and stereo powers off.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
Can  I bypass the relay some how.?

Any info welcome, diagrams or pics.

Thanks

Sounds like a lack of power to the stereo and speakers. When your turning the volume up the demand is more than can be supplied and it goes off.

What head unit have you installed and what speakers inc wattage

 :iagree:

Sounds like the stereo is trying to pull more power than is permitted, and trips out.
Could be worth checking for shorts on the cabling, exposed metal, etc.

I have installed a Sony stereo with Sony speakers.
Speakers are 150w 2way coaxial.  35 watts rated 150 watts Max

Stereo is Sony mex bt3000u. 4 x 52 watt channels

Was it a factory Infiniti system initially or bog standard? If standard I think you may need to link a basic amp into the system.
