Title: JEEP CHEROKEE KJ 2.8 CRD AUTO REAR AXLE LSD
Post by: P5HRR on March 23, 2017, 01:18:02 AM
I am getting skipping and clicking from the rear axle in my 2004 2.8 CRD KJ Auto. When turning corners, fine in a straight line.

I assume it's the LSD clutch plates. Anyone replaced these ?.  Would an oil change with friction modifier sort it ?.

What will happen if I continue to drive it, will it destroy the rear axle or just the LSD plates ?.

It's a 4.10 ratio diff, should I just swap a diff from a breakers, where can I get diff parts in the UK ?.

I had similar on a WJ. Drained the oil and added the correct friction modifier and it wasn't an issue after that.

I (stupidly) put 30,000 miles on our ZJ with the rear LSD intermittently clicking when pulling away.

£800 and one axle rebuild later I'm somewhat regretting that...
