I have posted about this before a long time ago but there was no luck then but hopefully 2 years on maybe someone has experienced something similar and may be able to throw some light on the problem. Its a long story stemming form the vehicle going into the garage to get a water pump changed and it hasn't been on the road since!!! Details and comments as follows…
JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE
OVERLAND 2.7 CRD
MODEL YEAR: 2003
VIN: 1J8G8E8A43Y533839
BOSCH ECU: 0281011094 (CHRYSLER RX044418AB)
PIN 3720
FAULT CODES:
Here are the fault codes that are showing. They are all P codes....
0190 Fuel pressure
2128 Pedal sensor
2125 Pedal sensor
0253 Boost pressure
1608 Analogue digital convertor
0155 Engine coolant temperature
1605 System
(March 2014: All fault codes above have now been cleared apart from the 0253 Boodt pressure one)
When you start engine is starts and gauges show up correctly, then check engine light comes on and all gauges return to zero and stay there.
However in test mode the gauges do their normal thing.
When the check engine light comes on the electric seat function to move backwards or forwards stops for some reason.
Otherwise all we can get out of the engine is idle....Safe mode?? Latterly revs up to 2900RPM
There were times when the seat would move forward on its own as well, this seems to have stopped now.
Earths have been checked. Wiring checked , harness cover pulled back and wires traced to sensor listed above.
Sensors have been changed out and swapped with a car that was functioning properly.
Plugs have been checked for corrosion and misaligned connectors.
DEC 2013.... Just boost control pressure senso showing a fault now?
MARCH 2014..... Car will run ok if revs kept above 1000rpm from start. As soon as it drops to idle the warning lights come up and thats us back to square 1.
BACKGROUND:
Car had been into garage to have water pump replaced. Job had been done with no issues. I picked it up got 500 metres down road and all gauges went to zero, check engine light came on, the engine went into safe mode and I could not get it to rev at all. Vehicle would not drive anywhere as it would do no more that idle.
All fault codes were checked but no solution could be found for the engine being in safe mode.
The ECU has been sent to 3 different ECU specialists who have been unable to do anything with it apart from one company which did do a small repair on a track that had burnt out. It was checked and reinstalled but still no difference to the problem.
Since then another ECU has been installed but still no solution to problem.
All wiring has been checked in the harness and seems to be OK.
Various people and forums spoken to and all the usual comments as to why this has happened have been checked.
One comment was that the power supply to the boost pressure sensor and the air conditioning sensor pressure sensor were linked and the problem could be lying here but that was checked and seems OK.
April 2014:
Vehicle sent into Chrysler dealer in UK. Checked on DC diagnostic tool and same faults came up. Technition went through same checks that have been done previously and not had any luck in locating fault. Vehicle still showing same fault code for Turbo boost pressure sensor but this is still functioning properly.
Had requested Scan Log but dealers unable to pull this off the diagnostic tool!
I have attached the diagnostic report from the Jeep delay who charged me over £500 for just going over and reporting back what I knew and had done all ready. Absolutly no help whatsoever and their final statement was that they had to remove all sensors form the engine and replace them including the ECU but the couldn't guarantee they could rectify the problem or throw any further light on it.
The car was perfectly serviceable when it went into the garage and I had hoped to get another 10 years at least out of it but at the moment I am probably looking at scrapping it.
Any ideas much appreciated. Thank you
