Arb seal Question Help and advice
« on: February 09, 2015, 07:20:40 PM »

My front Arb is leaking air into the casing not allowing the locker to lock and the compressor runs all the time because of said leak. Do I only have to replace the two BS-133 VITON 75 seals as in the exploded diagram it shows another seal as a BONDED SEAL 160701.

bonded seals will normally be standard imperial sizes (1/4, 3/8, 1/2 etc) and should be available from screwfix etc.

viton is a more resiliant material to aggresive oils. you could use standard rubber but changes would be more often

The seal carrier can also spin and break the copper pipe off.

When I rebuilt my rear axle I decided it would be a good idea while in there to swap the viton O-rings. I had to make a minimum purchase so bought seals for front and rear. I'm not entirely sure where they are and would have to look for them. I'd have to double check the sizes in case they are different but my lockers are the earlier ones, not sure of the locker numbers of the top of my head. If I can find them and have the size you need I can post you a few.

I'll have to have a dig and see if I can find them.

Just found the parts lists on ARB website. 75 is the size used on both early and late D30 ARBs so I'll have to have a dig and see if I can find them.

Cheers, the seals for the front are BS133 Viton 75 and the rears are BS136 Viton 75 for future reference.

Sorry to hear about your ARB woes George, the lockers were working fine when the axles were removed prior to me selling them to you, I guess when the locker was removed for the regear something didn't agree with being messed with, hope you get it sorted soon mate..

Ezz, stuff happens. can you confirm that theres a RD100 in the front and a RD116 in the rear. dont really need to know for the seals but no doubt along the road it would be good to know.

If the seals are where I think they might be they are currently under a pile of debris in the garage after the storage fastened to the roof collapsed. No matter though. I've just checked and I have the email archived from when i bought them. My sizes are different, BS028 (RD30 D30 Locker) and BS132 (RD06 D44 Locker).

Since I have that email the seals were from http://www.polymax.co.uk/o-rings/rubber-viton-oring/o-rings-bs102-bs178-viton

I bought 22 of each one I needed to make up the minimum order value, so cost back in June 2011 was £14.23 to the door.
They are minimum 20 of each but minimum £10 (+VAT) order too. You can get 23 each of BS133 and BS136 posted free (5day shipping) for £12.14.

A bit more digging and mine appears to be a RD30 so BS028 viton 75 seals but there cheap enough so will buy some so don't go digging your garage out LOL.
