Title: 94 YJ dims weak and headlight not working
Post by: IrishKenCJ7 on May 18, 2015, 01:21:15 PM
Any ideas why the left headlight might not be working in 94 YJ (LHD). The right headlight is working perfect so does this rule out the switch in the cabin and on the signal lever.

I changed the bulb to a new H4 and its the same thing. When using dips its much weaker than that right one and when I put on full headlights the light goes off for a second and back on again but still only the weak dim. The full headlight never engages for the left light. I;ve cleaned the contacts etc.  Is it an earth issue, but all contacts seem fine.  Do I just need to trace it with a multi meter?

Won;t have time to order a new part so anything I can do for a MOT end of week?

Thanks in advance.
Ken

Probably a bad ground.

:iagree:...with Dr Mike. Weak light, intermittent output usually indicates a problem in this area.

trace the brown wire to see where it connects to the body, possibly yellow and white for the main and dipped beams
